Medieval Influences in Skyrim

Post » Mon Oct 21, 2013 4:36 am

Hi all,

I just had a question regarding the developers and their influences in the creation of Skyrim. Does anyone know of any interviews or moments when the developers have discussed some of the medieval influences in the Skyrim world, or has that aspect of the game been left up to the user to discuss?

Thanks!

Nords = Vikings. Just look at http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120911012915/elderscrolls/images/d/db/Dawmstarmain.PNG. Deal with it, ppl. I'd say the game would be set between the Viking age and the Middle Ages, so 800/900 AD, if contextualized in our world.

If a comparison must be made then it should be late renaissance, due to the prevalence of certain technologies and systems such as book printing, advanced governance, advanced glassmaking, metallurgy etc.

Skyrim however is set in 4E200, around 6500 years since the Dawn Era or the beginning of time.

Nords certainly have influences from the nordic regions of Europe, but there are also other influences and things all of their own.
