The sounds that usually play when the menu opens, when and item is picked up, when an item is equipped , or consumed , all are failing to work . Any idea how to fix this?

Delete Skyrim - Sounds.bsa in Data folder and re-verify game cache. Barring that, delete any loose files in Data\sounds\fx\effects
