I've always been a bit perplexed about this particular sound effect and how it's applied throughout the game. At first, I thought this sound would play at random when hitting just about anything. But after doing some more thorough testing I've concluded that this sound will always play first when you hit a new surface for the first time, or hitting a different surface from the last one. This sound will play on the first hit, and then change to the appropriate sound linked to the havok material for the object. It doesn't seem to be derived from the specific sound descriptor wpn_impact_generic_lofi uses either, since the sound from these impacts don't appear to be affected by any changes I make to the sound descriptor...
Is there no way to edit this so the game just plays the appropriate havok material sound straight away?
