Wood Elf build, help please.

Post » Wed Oct 23, 2013 12:57 pm

Hey, anyone have recommendations for a wood elf build/roleplay in Skyrim? Have done an in-depth play through with every race bar them and would love some ideas on back-story, skill specializations and questlines to do and ones to avoid. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

I haven't personally played as a bosmer ever, but I would def recommend getting to Falkreath ASAP to be amongst the awesome forests. A combo of archery and daggers would be fitting, a few magic spells for support but nothing crazy. I've never pictured bosmer as mages

Dual daggers or swords
Bow
Sneak
Light armour/Clothes
Illusion
Alteration
Restoration
Smithing
Alchemy
Enchanting
Speech

Edit: If you have Hearthfire then try hunting until you earn enough septims to buy Lakeview Manor.
If you dont have Hearthfire then try hunting until you earn enough septims to buy the house in Solitude.

I like your avatar OP.

Go to the Skyrim Blog and look up Valenwood Ranger. Great wood elf RP.

Not every character has to be a walking, talking racial stereotype. Sometimes it's interesting to play against type characters. I had great fun with my Bosmer destruction mage who never picked up a bow the entire game. :D

^ As did I with my pure Orc mage. In fact, I often find those kinds of stereotype-defying characters most fun to play; after all, race is largely irrelevant as far as gameplay goes.

Falkreath is basically the hunting paradise of Skyrim, and The Rift isn't far behind. Ranger builds in general are so fun in Skyrim simply because the wildnerness/countryside is so much better designed and plentiful than the cities/towns.

Search 'Valenwood Ranger' on google and that should give you a good start.

Just female Sir. With long chins and soulful eyes full of blood.

The males look like flipping ewoks.

Just eat anything you kill and you'll be fine. Anything... Honestly? It depends more on if you're a down to earth Bosmer who was raised the Bosmer way or if you were raised among the other races. Normally I recommend some kind of archery and magic because of that.

These are some lore about the Bosmer race that may help in making up a backstory.

  • Bosmer (Tree Sap people) a.k.a. wood elves are from Valenwood, a densely forested jungle province of Cyroldiil. As their name implies, they reside in tree cities.
  • females are taller than the males
  • they have the ability to command an animal an ally to fight along side them
  • in compliance of the Green Pact they do not harm the plant life of Valenwood
  • they are strictly carnivorous (and some say cannibalistic)
  • their deity is Y'ffre, God of the forrest
  • they are naturally talented archers

My character, Cate, is a disillusioned wood elf, which is why she was drifting into Skyrim away from her troubled home. After she was nearly unjustly beheaded she was even more disgruntled, and joined the DB. She specialized in illusion and is a solitary character. I know this isn't a huge backstory, but it worked for me, and I wanted to try some completely different skills and quests I hadn't done before.
