The Order of Arcane

Welcome to the Arcane Stealth Shadows. A.S.S. for short....never mind. I'll just call it The Order of Arcane...heh. Anyway I just wanted to form a group for Mage assassins, just a place to share tips, strategies, and favourite schools for assassination purposes. So, my fellow Mage assassins, what have you to share?

I've never done this but I've been meaning to. During the Dark Brotherhood quest involving a certain wedding. Cast fury I assume everyone will kill each other, allowing you to easily leave the city.

What would you do about Veezara then? I think he arrives regardless of whether you need help or not.

Like I said I never tried it. I assume he'd still do what his ai tells him to do.:)

Hmm, i have an assassin that uses illusion, but he isnt a pure "mage assassin". I suppose you could get some rune mods to allow you to place lots of runes, then lure the enemy into your lovely 10x rune stack :D

BOOM. Plus a second or two of horrendous fps, maybe.

Other than illusion, the other schools arent all that good for sneaking. Perhaps get some mods. If you really want to remain undetected most of the time you probably have to stick with illusion only (frenzy and sit back, relax and watch), which is pretty boring.

none of the other schools work. Conjuration isnt stealthy at all, and alteration and restoration arent really offensive.

It's hilarious casting the Master Frenzy spell at the wedding. Veezara? He just kinda wades into the fray and then wanders around not sure who to attack. It's almost like he's surprised that the guests are killing each other and he has nothing to do.

My character is Ashur Szyn; Male Dunmer, Vampire Lord, Mage/Assassin.

Generally he'll lead off a battle by dual casting Frenzy or some other Rage-inducing spell. While the enemies are fighting it out amongst each other, he'll summon twin Dremora Lords to wade into the fray.

Assuming there's anyone left standing, he'll mop up the stragglers with Incinerate/Thunderbolt.

Illusion, Conjuration, Destruction are his three best Magick Skills. Restoration and Alteration are there for purely support purposes and for those rare, specific situations where they may com in handy. Enchanting makes sure Ashur has staying power for the whole fight by having equipment boost his abilities.

Overall, it's a fun, very well-working build.

I usually start off an encounter with a solid sneak attack on one enemy, and then immediately casting frenzy on another while I slink back into the shadows. Send off an atro and Kharjo to clean up the mess while I place a rune for defense in case they actually approach me. Then I heal other on my pal Kharjo as he slays my foes for me

The Illusion perk Quiet Casting allows you to cast from any school silently, and if you aren't high enough level for it you can always power level with Muffle. And if you have quiet casting you can use Conjuration to summon a bound weapon, and as for Alteration, Paralyze can be very useful as well as Waterbreathing (Hiding from guards underwater).
