Glass/Daedric/Dwarven armor: MW or OB style?

Post » Thu Apr 22, 2010 12:29 am

Morrowinds glass armor looked way better to me than Oblivions armor, but I liked Oblivion's Dwemer and Daedric armor models more than Morrowinds.

I wouldn't mind a combination of both Styles of Armor.

Glass: Definitely Morrowind, it look ridiculous in the Oblivion.
Daedric: Honestly, I like Oblivions more, But i'd like both, possible explained as being the armor of two different clans?
Dwemer: I liked Oblivions, actually it was one of my favorite armors. Didn't really like the large point on the helmet, would look nicer if that was removed.

Let's see...

Glass - Oblivion glass may be uglier, but at least it's actually glass armor, unlike Morrowind's. It just had glass spikes on it.

Daedric - I liked Oblivion's better, over all. It could have just been the greater detail it had, I'm not sure.

Dwarven - The Oblivion dwarven armor is one of my favorite sets in the game. I like it much more than the Morrowind version.

Ultimately, though, I'm looking forward to a new take on the three armor types. If they simply cloned what they had already done, I'll be disappointed.

Glass: I prefer Morrowinds, it was a more stylistic approach and looked like I could kill someone just with my armour!
Daedric: This is a tough one, I liked the armour's about the same but I much preferred the multiple choice of helms in Morrowind and the rarity of the armour itself.
Dwemer or Dwarven:Oblivion gets the upper hand on this one. They armour seemed much more like something the Dwemer would have actually made for use and trade. Whereas the armour in Morrowind just looked salvaged from centurions.
Ebony Again Oblivion wins this round. The only thing I didn't like about the ebony armor in Oblivion was the open helm. If it would have been closed it would have most likely been my favorite in the game. As far as Iron and Steel go I liked them both equally.

I personally hope for some of the armour from bloodmoon to return. +1 for wolf/bear/nordic mail/stalhrim armour!

As for Dwarven, my vote goes to Oblivion. My butt looked massive in Morrowind and it looked like they took apart machines to make it. Dwarven machinery armor would have been a more suitable name.

There is some source somewhere that suggests as much. Dunmer adventurers dismantling Dwemer constructs and making makeshift armor from them, and selling it to noob foreigners

Generally, here's the way it works for me: Morrowind had better-looking light armor, Oblivion had better-looking heavy armor.

I'm tired of people making polls that ask if you want bits of the game to be like Morrowind or Oblivion -- I don't want it to be like Morrowind nor Oblivion; I want it to be like Skyrim.

So therefore, I did not vote.

Skyrim Style!

That!

Every providence should have their unique style of these types of armor.

Morrowind style glass

Oblivion style Daedric

I prefer Oblivion style Dwarven but both could be accurate, it's an entire civilization after all, they had more than one type of armor.

Glass armour like the one in Morrowind definitely. The one in Oblivion not only looked immensely ugly, but it didn't make any sense the way it was shaped. Huge pieces of glass would break. Oblivion's dwemer armour was also ugly, the head looked like a teapot. Daedric armour for MW and Ob both looked good.

I actually like the style of Oblivion's glass armor. Just... not the color. OH GOD, NOT THE COLOR. (This is why I have nice blue glass armors now!) Not that Morrowind's glass designs were bad, but it looks a lot less like how you'd actually want glass to protect you. Smooth edges to help the blows roll off > sharp edges to chip away.

As far as the Dwemer and Daedric looks...

Oblivion Dwemer just looks cool. Don't recall the MW style.
Daedric... it should look fierce, so nod to Oblivion. Morrowind's looked... ordinary. Funny, because it was the reverse of the way it was in-game.

While MW Glass and OB Glass are just the different designs for the same armour, and MW Daedric and OB Daedric are the "general" desugn for different types of daedric varieties, I belive that MW and OB Dwemer Armours are two completly different sets: MW version is decomposited centurions, while OB Dwemer is actual Dwemer Armour. So i'd like to have them both, with different properties.

Have to agree on this point. Radioactive green is not my color of choice. Would have been okay were it a dark shade of green.

Eh. I'd rather see something new for Skyrim. I kind of like the idea of armor having its own distinctive style in a certain province. Skyrim is, after all, NOT Cyrodiil or Morrowind.

Neither. I'll leave it to Beth to figure out fresh ideas and designs :) But I want the most exotic ones be extremely hard to get (a full set of), be as ugly as they can be (daedric should be particularly scary) that gives a disposition penalty. The glass design in MW was just weird to me. I mean, I'd get stuck if I ever tried to fight in a wood wearing those spikes, or blead to death trying to put it on :P So despite looking ugly and scary, I think it should still look that something that could actually work. In a practical manner I mean.

I agree, I'd love to be able to dye armor and clothing.

Word. What they said.
