Do you think they fixed teleporting enemies?

Post » Thu Apr 22, 2010 3:09 am

I'm gettin really sick of the whole teleporting glitching enemies from fallout 3, especially on the harder difficulties it can really get you killed. you use vats and all of a sudden they jump and dodge your bullets, or they just randomly decide to jump around while accurately shooting u in the face. do u guys think the combat got an overhaul? and i dont mean look down the sights overhaul.

Teleporting enemies was annoying.
But i didn't mind so much.
What I really hated was that I'd selected a target on vats and ended up shooting the wall.
Now that was annoying.

I have never experienced what you're talking about, so I can't comment.

Never had that problem. On another note, did you ever have a problem where an enemy would turn into an invincible flailing mass of lines with a head in the center. I saw a Feral Ghoul Reaver do that once and it was probably the scariest moment in the game for me. The only "teleporting" issues I ever saw were when a Deathclaw or some form of Radscorpian would teleport into a building with me. I thought that Dukov was pulling a gun on me once for no reason, but when I turned around I was in for a pretty big surprise.

It sounds like it's a problem with your game; the only Teleport Glitch I know of is when an enemy tries charging at you, but can't find a path to you. It's an old holdover from Oblivion.

Are you using the PS3 version? If so, you need to realize that it's extremely buggy...

im not ignorant, so theres no realizing. its the 360 version. and it happens to me constantly during me using vats, but occasionally during a regular battle. its kind of like cod lag, they were there, and then there sumwhere else

How long have you had your 360? Is it one of the old ones has yet to go RROD on you, or is it a new one? Do you have an extra cooling fan on it? How long do you play Fallout 3 before the teleports start to happen?

i can barely ever play and get it all the time, its failry new its my secong one, no i dont. and ive had it for a while. its the game not my 360. other games dont go whacky. unless its online with lag, that dont count.

edit: its just the whole vats thing, sumtimes they will randomly jump and move. (not literraly JUMP, like teleport jump. and i dont mean across the map. i just mean to the left or right.)

Try renting a copy of Fallout 3 (or borrow a friend's copy.) Also, grab a secondary cooling fan, as heat does terrible things to internal circutry, causing software glitches and whatnot.

If the rented copy or your firend's copy of Fallout 3 still jumps, the problem is with your Xbox. If the probelm doesn't continue... well, you've basically got a very expensive coaster/mini frisbee, and you need to buy a new copy of Fallout 3 (unless you want to keep renting/borrowing.) Needless to say... if you get the Cooling fan, try testing your copy of FO3 with it, before renting/borrowing.

Also, if all else fails, just stop using VATS, since the problem only happens during VATS mode.

I hope that they do iron out the bugs that were in Fallout 3 for New Vegas.

Speaking of which, did anyone ever experience that glitch when a radscorpion would be underneath the ground, with little parts of them sticking out? I called it the "Land Shark" glitch.

Was only scary if it was an albino underneath the ground, then you were screwed... :cryvaultboy:

The only thing close to teleporting i saw was the deathclaws that got launched into orbit. It always made for a good laugh. "Oh crap a deathclaw!" *deathclaw shoots into space, "huh... wut?" *continues playing.

Though it never happened to me (PC), I believe it would be an issue with the Navmeshing system they used. Which I am sure they have tweaked a bit, so chances are it will not be happening in NV.

Abosolutely do NOT do this. I bought one too when I first had an xbox and after a week I figured out the thing was doing bad and not good through personal testing and research. Besides the fact the fan's are annoyingly loud, there's a bunch of other issues with it. The fans don't actually svck heat out, but creates a vacuum inside the xbox, trapping heat inside. If it gets hot enough because of the trapped heat it can melt on your xbox which will void your warranty. It drains a lot of power too, but not sure if that's an issue or not.

The best way to keep your xbox vented propery is to set it vertically on a hard surface with atleast 3 inches of space on both sides and the back, more if you can manage.

On Topic: I've seen in VATS I might occasionally aim at an enemy, and when I start firing it teleports somewhere else, often times behind cover. However, for me it's extremely rare and could probably count the number of times it has happened on one hand (and thats with over 500 hours in the game).

You must have had the fan installed backwards or something because I've never heard of that one. The biggest killer of CP hardware is cigarette smoke. If you smoke indoors around your hardware expect it to get overly dirty and fail.

I personally have never had this happen in my game though I play on the PC so overheating is not an issue. I can open my case and clean the components without voiding the warranty unlike Xbox owners.

I had a centaur "warp" into the water behind me when swimming to rivet city to get the bobble head, 2 of them actually, they went from the "boardwalk" to in the middle of the river in less then 2 seconds. I never had that happen in vats though. (360 only)

I have a "Nokia Intercooler". It plugs into the back of the xbox where you normally plug the power in. It has 3 big fans on that back that are supposed to cool it down, and another outlet on the buttom so you can plug the power cord into the Intercooler. There is absolutely no way I could have installed it backwards. There might be some fans that work right, but in my expierence it's safer to use the xbox without and fans at all, and without them your warranty isn't void.

I had the reaver issue when I first installed broken steel. It has to do with the glitch when deed bodies fly all over the map. Because on PC when I reloaded and it happened again. I used the console commands too kill it. And viola it shot all over the place like a piece of gum with one end stuck to the ground.

But the Vats issue is annoying but sometimes helpful. As you can leap ledges otherwise impossible or dificult to do so in combat.

Strange. I bought a used intercooler. Noisy as hell for the first minute or so after you start up the 360, but I did notice an improvement in my gameplay since adding it in... for instance, texture breakdown due to extended use decreased.

It pissed me off so much when I spent all my AP trying to Minigun an enemy only to watch my character shoot at a line of sandbags for 60 seconds. I hope they included a way to cancel a VATS sequence that's in progress.

If you are having a problem with Fallout: 3, you may want to ask about it in our H&S section. Fallout: New Vegas is being developed by an entirely different company and therefore I expect different issues with it. Of course I always hope for less bugs but I've yet to find that game.

That being said, it seems like this thread is just for ranting about FO:3 problems and we have a whole section where you can get help for issues and/or discuss issues you have. :) Since development of each game are being done by different teams...'are you gonna fix it' seems out of place.
