I've decided to give Skyrim another shot, with various restrictions that feel right, and have created a female Breton, Battle Archer (stand up and fire), heavy armor, heavy bow and her trusty Imperial sword and shield when things get too close. Taste Imperial steel, dirty cur!

She's joined the legion and is happily fulfilling her many duties, including some I've created for her.

At the start of the game, which towns does the legion control, and which do the Stormcloaks, besides the obvious Solitude, where my character is happily stationed, and Windhelm?

Guards notice how nice Corinna's Imperial armor is... so it sounds like it would be best to come up with a different outfit when visiting unknown towns. (She's only been to Solitude and Whiterun. Recently discovered Rorikstead and has not started the MQ.)

If you are in Solitude, then there is a map in the table where Tullius is with colored flags indicating which areas are controlled by each faction. All of the major villages have these maps.

You can also look on the military maps in game, which can be found on tables with a Stormcloak or Imperial leader close by.
