PSN DLC Price Drop - what hapened?

Post » Mon Oct 28, 2013 9:20 am

So, I sold my PS3 copy of Skyrim a long time ago, and retreated to PC-land. You know why ;)

When the DLC launched on EU PSN, it was half-price for a while. Nice gesture. Further down the line (a few months back?) it was advertised in the 'Price-Drop' section of PSN which to my knowledge is always used for permanent price drops (as opposed to the 'sale' section). I remember seeing this and making a mental note to re-acquire a PS3 copy and purchase it later.

Having just picked up a PS3 copy of Skyrim from eBay, I went to the PSN store to purchase the DLC and lo-and-behold, it's full-price again.

Is this a mistake, or just some deceptive advertising? Buying the DLC from the store now works out considerably more expensive than a new copy of the 'Legendary Edition'. Not amused :/

The DLCs were only for circa 3 weeks on half-price.

That's very disappointing, though I appreciate it's my own fault for not researching my purchase properly. The use of the phrase 'price drop' is rather misleading though.

I guess I'll have to hold-out for a future sale, though I've noticed Bethesda tend not to discount DLC very often. *sigh*

While I'm here... is there any actual difference between the Leg.Ed. and regular with DLC? I would assume they're the same, but you know what they say about assumptions...

There is no difference between Legendary Skyrim and Vanilla Skyrim w/ DLC.

as far as im aware the PSN has always used the phrase "Price drop" for sales, when advertised, and the advertised sales always go back to the old prize. If it was a permanent price drop, it wouldve said so to begin with :icecream:

Well, at the time in question, 'price drop' and 'sale items' were 2 completely seperate sections of the store (in the UK, anyway). Both contained different content, and much of the stuff from the 'price drop' section remained at the lower price (for example, the Dead Rising series which was in the same category)

Typical misleading SCEE nonsense >.< Oh well, fingers crossed for another sale someday.

Thanks for the info ShadowTitan
