Then don't use them?

most of them are pretty good weapons . your either using them wrong or your not taking cover when your reloading like a [censored]

Ever heard of Rapid Reload? That and 9 AgI makes Revolvers reload almost as fast as other weapons. Lever Action also reloads well with it. You probably just don't know when you should reload.

And all the one round at a time reload animations are bugged. Don't move while reloading the last round, and don't use VATS so that you reload during it.

Cowboy weapons are my favorite, and anyone using them should pick up "Rapid Reload" to help offset a bit of the reload time. It's a must for anyone using them.

I've never had this issue and I pretty much use the cowboy weapons exclusively. Is this on console? It may have been fixed in a mod patch on PC...

No, i'm on PC. And if i move during the last round, the character goes out of control for few seconds. In VATS that prevents the character from attacking, and just takes hits from enemies in slow motion. Doesn't happen every time, but it's not rare either.

YUP currently, but it happened beofre that to me, never used MM. I remember before an official patch, there was a bug that caused the reload animation to play infinitely when switching ammo types too quickly. After it was fixed, this started to happen.

The infinite reload can still happen too, if you switch to an ammo type you have less of while you have reloaded more than that of the current one.

Ok. I guess it just never happened to me.

This is the only legitimate complaint of cowboy weapons. Cowboy weapons are really good with the Cowboy perk! Some of the strongest guns in the game. Lucky for crits. The unique lever action rifle from GRA for pure damage.
