WICraftingAlchemy Keyword?

Post » Mon Oct 28, 2013 11:27 pm

Alchemy recipes and potions do not work like COBJ recipes for weapons and armour as there is no Workbench Keyword available in the Recipe Forms for CraftingAlchemy like there is for CraftingSmithingForge etc.

The Alchemy Lab stations themselves contain the Keyword WICraftingAlchemy (amongst others), but the potions do not appear at the Alchemy Lab if you use this keyword in the potion recipes, even if you know the effects of the Ingredients.

So what is WICraftingAlchemy, what does it do and how can I get my potion recipes to appear in the Alchemy Lab menu?

You CAN create potion recipes which use the correct ingredients for the effects you want, and you can have the recipe output the potion as the Created Object (such as a multi-effect potion with a unique name). But the strength of the effects is set in the potion which is outputted, and has nothing to do with your Alchemy skill and perks.

If you make enough recipes and custom potions of varying strengths (with conditions for Skill Score and Perks in the recipes), you can create all the Standard Potions in the game (Like Virulent Poison etc) as well as any Custom Multi-Effect Potions you add, but they will be at the standard potion strengths as you are creating an object with a Form ID in the CK, not creating an ad hoc potion whose strengths and durations are set by your Alchemy Skill score and perks.

For example, if you have a Custom Multi-Effect Potion Form ID with 3 beneficial effects and one negative effect, the potion will have the negative effect even if you have the Purity Perk, as you are not creating the potion using your Alchemy skills and perks, you are using a COBJ recipe.

This all works if I use something like CraftingCookpot as the Workbench Keyword. With the correct conditions in the recipes, I can create Standard Potions of an appropriate strength to my skill level and perks and any Custom Multi-Effect Potions, but at a Cooking Pot!

But I cannot make them at the Alchemy Lab.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers!

I think you pretty much have the long and the short of there, I went looking at this as a way to create my plague coins and from what I gathered it was handled ingame working off the effects of the ingredients.

So as far as I know it's the cooking pot or your own activators running scripts.

Most of the crafting stuff for Alchemy and Enchanting in particular, seems to be very stubbornly hard-coded into the game. So unfortunately I think it will probably be near impossible to get your recipes to appear directly in the Alchemy menu itself without rebuilding that menu something like SkyUI. However.. have you tried adding the Cooking Pot keyword to the Alchemy table? Not sure if it would work... but if it would, you could probably make a workaround of some kind, where you could have two "modes" of potion making, one for vanilla potions, and one for your custom potions. You could then pop up a menu when players activate the table or something and let them choose what mode to go into. All this, of course, assumes that the Cooking Pot keyword would work at the alchemy table. You should try testing it (may have to remove the WICraftingAlchemy keyword for it to work), and if it does work - hopefully still using the alchemy table animation instead of the cooking pot animation, let us know, and we can start going into the details of such a workaround.
