Two noob questions (to begin with)

Post » Tue Oct 29, 2013 8:48 am

My chars use modded hair, earrings and whatnot and I've edited the Environment Suit etc. so the modded hair doesn't clip through the visor. This was really simple - I just added hair etc. to the Biped Flags of the suits. My first question is why this doesn't work with the Chinese Stealth helmet? Well, the hair doesn't clip through, but eye glasses, earrings and necklaces clips through - but they do so even if I add those Biped Flags. Anyone who has an idea why that is and if it is possible to edit the helmet so such items don't clip through the visor?

My second question is if anyone knows what the Nuka Cola neon sign is named in G.E.C.K.? I'm using smokindan's trophies mod and it adds the neon sign after finishing the Nuka Cola Challenge quest. I want to lower the sound it makes as it is a bit annoying, but I can't seem to find what it is when trying to check it in G.E.C.K.

For the Nuka thing. Open up the mod in question and find that trophy, as the stock sign does not make that sound that I can hear. See what sound was added to it. Open that sound in an editor (any third party media editor should allow this) and reduce it's amplitude or volume. Probably have to go at least half, if not more to make it so it is not irritating. Now, I have not used this mod, but if the sign is on a stand or something it could be the sound is applied to that stand and not the sign itself.

For the Chinese Stealth, I have not worn glasses with it, so I can't help you with that.

It is the Nuka neon sign and it makes sounds in vanilla as well (check for instance the one on Sierra's shack in Girdershade). I've checked the one in smokindan's mod, but it's only a nif that I can see - and I haven't found the vanilla sign. So I'm not sure what to look for in the first place.

More precisely, I find a static named NukaSign01 - but it's only a nif and I can't see any sound bound to it.

I don't have the editor in front of me (I am at work) but I don't remember the stock sign being annoying, so it's possible they modified the sound for the mod.

Otherwise your going to have to use FOMM to unpack the BSA's and find the sound. See this for steps on how to do this

Yes, but I need to know what I'm looking for (I can access all sounds with GECK as well). And the sound isn't annoying when you hear it a couple of seconds running around ingame - but it's annoying when it's constant as when your char is at home, much as I would find the sound of a neon sign annoying if it was in my living room. I've toned down Wadsworth's sounds for the same reason.

It should be assigned to the object, look at the properties for the object, that will tell you what sound it has.

As said, the only thing I can find is the NukaSign01.nif - and that doesn't help me when it comes to which sound I want to lower. Hopefully someone will pop up who knows this.

EDIT: http://i.imgur.com/jaPgHDT.jpg in G.E.C.K.. I can't find any sound reference - although it does indeed emit a sound.
