Restocking Thieves Guild with "Spoils of War"

Post » Tue Oct 29, 2013 1:16 pm

Hey, all.

I've been the leader of the Thieves Guild for a while, but the chests in the vault have always remained empty. That needs to change! I started stocking the chests with various items throughout my adventures that I imagined would be considered valuable or rare to the Guild. Here's what I've come up with so far.

Here are two screenshots peeking into the vault room:

Here is a chest full of exotic, rare, and/or valuable potions. It is sitting next to a stack of rare furs to be turned into clothing or sold to merchants:

Here is a chest full of powerful and rare magic scrolls. I want to put some rolls of paper, an inkwell and a quill for scribing purposes:

Here are two chest for of gold and silver ingots...just because:

Here is a chest full of "filled" soul gems that can go to the highest bidder. In theory they have rare and exotic souls in them, even those of people for those inclined. It sits next to a chest full of various trinkets, odd & ends, that sort of thing (that I haven't figured out what to do with, yet):

Finally, the piece de restistance. This chest is chock full of Septims, fine jewels, and even a sapphire dragon claw:

Apparently, bags of god disappear after exiting the area, which leaves "voids" where they used to be that still retain their collision areas, so I can't put bags of gold in my chests. :(

Is there a way to place a dummy in a certain spot via the console (like you can with coin purses)? I'd like to display some suites of armor in the vault if possible.

Any other suggestions for what I can place in the vault? Keep in mind that I also have the Arch Mage Quarters where many magical artifacts are stashed. I'll post screens of that next...may need some suggestions there, as well.

Edit: I will try to update this thread as more items are added and chests are filled. Keep giving me ideas on what to put in here!

I was always disappointed we couldn't take the vault as a storage area or fill it up again, though if it was up to me the chests would be filled with nothing but gold and jewels.

Well done. I could never do that since the framerate is awful in the whole Ragged Flagon (PS3 here).

Well, I figured out how to remove all the gold. Just had to disable collision via the console...man, it took a long time to pick up all those coins and gems...now to figure out the best way to fill up the chest!

Your gonna need a mod. What I would do is make some boxes that will fit inside of, but not fill the container. Then you can pile a few things on top and it will look like it's fool. And, you won't have so many Physics Objects in one cell to cause game instability.

Yeah. These damn Septims are like freaking water! They always find the lowest possible point, and they push EVERYTHING out of the way; coin purses, gold bars, pretty much everything I can think of. How would I go about adding "boxes" to the chest? I would just about need to fill it up completely, as it takes a LOT of coins and gems to even fill the bottom of the chest.

The vault door is once again closed, in my TG.
I have no urge to go in there...
Just pretend the chests are filling up again.

So... you actually restored the TG 100% (all four new merchants plus new TG members)?
That was a tough one, for me.
I went straight to Riften from Helgen - and I was level ~40 before I had visited the rest of Skyrim!
But I got 'er done...

Make the boxes, add them as an inventory item in the game, drop them in the chest.

I found an easier way, I think.

I consoled a chest at my feet. Then I set the position to match the thieves guild chest, just a bit lower, so the coins will rest on top of that chest. Working so far. I'll post new screens when I'm done!

Yep. I kind of gamed the system, though. I "declined" quests until I could received targets in whatever hold necessary to gain influence there. Rinse/repeat until all four are completed.

Thanks!

Now that I know how to really fill the chests, I can make much better ones...coming soon!
