How do you think a second Great war would pan out?

Post » Wed Oct 30, 2013 7:20 am

Just as the title say, how do you think that a second war would or could pan out? Feel free to make up your own battles in the war, naming them and making a short description of them. Or just write how you think that alliances would be made, wich side would win, were would the first attack take place and so on.

Long and bloody.

I have a feeling that the Empire will eventually collapse afterwards, or maybe even come out stronger.

Time will tell.

If you were to create your own story how it would pan out how would that be?

I predict it will take place out of game and no matter the result will probably lead to the eventual collapse of the Empire. Alinor isn't going to be invaded successfully anytime soon. Even Tiber Septim knew he didn't stand a chance until Numidium, and there is not a single human out there right now in Tamriel with anywhere near the military prowess and strategic ability of Tiber Septim, and of course: no Numidium.

Valenwood is extremely hard to invade if the Bosmer put up a fight and we know the potential side effects of invading it. All we know about the Khajiit is they consider the Thalmor their saviours and the other nations bordering Cyrodiil are in no way friendly to the Empire, especially the An-Xileel, whose only dialogue we've heard regarding their involvement in the Empire/Dominion conflict is a potential weaponry trading relationship with the Dominion. I just highly doubt either Morrowind or especially Black Marsh are going to come to their aid. Hammerfell is unknown whether they'll fight with the Empire in the great war and no matter what happens Skyrim is going to be in an absolute mess after the events of TES 5, even if there is an Imperial victory in the Province. Thousands upon thousands of some of the best warriors in the Empire will be slain both in the Civil war and in the Dragon crisis.

I don't see how the Empire can 'win' the next great war, even if they take back Valenwood and Elsweyr (unlikely), the Thalmor will still remain prevelant in the Summerset Isles and are still one of if not the best cloak and dagger organizations in Tamriel. At this rate I wouldn't be suprised if the Thalmor end up controlling Cyrodiil and the Empire having collapsed by the next game. At the same time I could see a situation where the Empire regains strength and Valenwood/Elsweyr. But judging by the current trend, I think the former is more likely.

The Empire uses its massive wall of people at the southern border to push the Dominion forces all the way to the coast in just a few weeks, and feels pretty darn good about it, but can't make it to Summerset, and the retreating elves slash and burn the forest.

The bulk of Aldmeri forces aren't in Valenwood, though, they are attempting the biggest amphibious assault on Cyrodiil in history, and doing a marvelous job.

The rest of the Great War is the Imperials trying to invade Cyrodiil from Valenwood, essentially fighting against Bosmer guerilla forces while trying to launch sieges. Most of them die of hunger, because the easy food is gone, and only the Bosmer really know how to live there.

No matter what happens if I was currently living in Cyrodiil in 4E 201 I'd be looking at Hammerfell, High Rock or Morrowind real estate prices.

Hammerfell is right by the Isles, so I wouldn't exactly be happy with going there. I do have this nice private cabana in the sea of ghosts though.

Unless you're an Altmer or Argonian, Tamriel is kind of low on decent and safe real estate right now.

Tiber reckoned he could take the island but that it would be very costly and probably not worth it. That was when the Psjjj was aiding in Alinor's defense though. It'd still be a tough invasion though.

Aka Septim would have gotten his legions nearly annihilated and had problems even maintaining an Empire back home. And to compare those legions to the current Empire and human nations in general is laughable. Cyrodiil right now is surrounded by it's worst enemies and the country it just ticked off. Skyrim, who arguably saved the Imperial's ass in the last war will likely be crippled and that's even if it's still in the Empire's camp after the civil war. Hammerfell probably cares more about defending it's Southern Borders more than anything, especially if what we're told about the extent of the damage caused to Southern Hammerfell during the Great war is true. As for the Bretons, well, they still probably care most about the same thing they always have, themselves. If the Thalmor is a threat to them then yes they'll probably join the Empire's fight

And with all the talk of a 'destroyed' Aldmeri army from the Great War the only thing we hear about their strength is a rumour from Jarl Igmund regarding Thalmor using the peace period created by the WGC to muster and gather their strength. Meanwhile part of the Legion is off fighting a civil war against an army of many ex-legionnaires. A United Dominion during these years of peace while the Empire has lost Hammerfell and half of it's warrior strong arm in Skyrim.

Eh, I don't think we can say the Dominion at large has a lot to brag about. They're strength only depends on how long the Khajiit and Bosmer remain complacent, and looking at how the Thalmor treat them, I'd wager they'll start getting antsy before too long, never mind the Altmer back at home getting cranky at them for throwing soldiers away at what they may view as a pointless war.

Besides, if the Dominion was really that strong to begin with, they wouldn't have lost White-Gold in a most spectacular manner.
