Seems like all the Kvatch restoration mods require Shivering Isles. Any suggestions for someone who doesn't have SI but would rather Kvatch didn't remain a tent city and burning sore on the landscape for the duration?

I'm afraid you just might have to purchase SI -- it's ubitquitous now, anyway, since all readily-available copies of Oblivion are GOTY, which includes SI.

Bethesda's means of implementing the DLC edited the master file directly -- which means that nodders who have SI must use the SI version of the master file to make mods. That makes it very easy to accidentally use SI items and may also mean that SI is required for all mods created using the SI version of the master file.

Hmmmm. I decided a long time ago that modders who deserve to get paid but aren't were doing a much better job of expanding and improving (or in many cases just finishing and debugging) gamesas's products than they ever do themselves, so I stopped paying gamesas for doing a bad job. Guess I might have to bite the bullet on this one though.

Even if you get SI, one of the most popular Kvatch mods (arguably THE most popular Kvatch mod), Kvatch Rebuilt, has been unavailable for some time since the author is working on the next version and the last version had some conflicts with another very popular mod (Fort Akatosh Redux). All versions of Kvatch Bebuilt have been pulled from Nexus. From what I could tell, other sites that may still have it only have the version with the conflicts. So, even if you get SI, you may have to wait like the rest of us for the next version of Kvatch Rebuilt to be released.
