I use Esther with TT as a shotgun.

I'm not sure how to class that.

Overkill?

I've always liked handguns myself.

The Police Pistol is pretty powerful, and its critical hits can do a lot of damage.

But other handguns like the 9mm and 10mm pistols can still hold their own at mid-level fights.

A Light Shining In Darkness and usually a Gauss Gun variant.

2nd gun combo is a GRA Modded Hunting Pistol and Hunting Rifle.

EDIT Ratslayer is one of My favorites, but it usually sits in a container once I get a superior Rifle.

Awesome. That's how you classify that.

I jump a lot between different guns - this playthrough, it's two-handed automatic rifles until I can use the Avenger effectively (Few more levels). Also Ratslayer with HP rounds for at least a little longer. It's a marvelous ready weapon for hunting wildlife and powder gangers without spending resources which cannot afford to be spent at this time.

The only guns I don't use are shotguns. I just can't get into the weapon's psychology. The scattering damage and penalties to DT penetration are simply too much of a drawback for me, in a way that isn't a drawback with a submachinegun.

Yeah...no. Lucky, with a fully-kitted crit build, can hit for a staggering 140 damage nine out of every ten shots, which is competitive against any other weapon in terms of pure impact. That brute effect may also give it the title of most efficient weapon in the game due to its cheap .357 ammunition. Maria is similarly cheap and efficient, while also possessing a damage booster perk and readily available JHP rounds, making both awesome weapons for general use in the wastes.

Submachineguns tend to have much better DPS, but worse DAM and accuracy while using similar rounds, rendering the handguns much more efficient. The SMG may be better at keeping you alive in some situations, but the handgun will always be more efficient.

Rifles...are some of the most generally effective weapons in the game, but slow you down and carry some other penalties.
