I was able to locate a way to reset your in-game cache on the Xbox 360. After playing for a while, the game builds up data and resetting it helps keep the game running smoothly and prevents game freezing.

If you don't know how to clear in-game cache on the Xbox 360, you launch the game and as soon as the game starts launching, you hold LB+RB+X until the game reaches the Press Start menu.

However, I have looked all over and cannot seem to find this feature for the PlayStation 3. Nor do I know if it even exists. Does anybody know how to do it if you can?

I've never heard of this.

Best you can do clean up after yourself, make new manual saves, and delete the old ones.

Other than that, that's pretty much kept my PS3 experience smooth.

This works for me as well. If you are using a mage, be careful when disintegrating people as an excess of ash piles can cause lag as well.

this is what finlly pushed me into buying skyrim for pc.. My 2nd character that hit the 13-15mb save file, making an unplayable game.. Took me 3-5 characters and 1500 hrs of gameplay before i got to see 75% of the game.. And finally, defeat Alduin.. Very frusterating..i find it pretty impossible to loot every single item from every single enemy, so i endup getting giant files...ive gotten a little better about not dropping items on the ground.. Instead i vendor (when worth it), otherwise i stock a bunch of junk into a crate, barrel, or chest in a dungeon or something.. Somewhere its not "safe", and know itl;l get removed by th egame...

Do you think picking up less items helps? I am a hoarder on Skyrim. . .

No, hoarding or not seemed to make no difference, and strangely enough I have not noticed much difference picking all the dropped stuff up and putting it back on the dead, and retrieving all my arrows. But I like my Skyrim tidy anyway, so it has become a habit. But I need a metal detector to find all those stashes of weapons, torches and shields lying around the place that I was never involved with.

I will have to start rubbish collecting one day when my PS3 character gets up in the world a bit.
