Custom Dialogue issues

Post » Fri Nov 01, 2013 8:26 am

So i decided to create a character named Robert Giligin whom was going to be a complete BA and was really just a test character. Everything went well, i could create the character, and even give it custom dialogue....To the point of where it was not an actual voice dialogue. Whenever i add my voice into the correct folder it reads it and creates it into a LIP file like normal, however when i go in game, not only do i not receive the beauty of hearing my own voice, but i don't even have the ability to talk to my character anymore, in fact the complete in game talking interface with that character is gone, i'll hit E on him and absolutely nothing will happen.

So heres what i did from scratch

1. created a character named Robert Giligin

2. created a quest called Meeting Robert Giligin

3. created a Dialogue for that quest, with the topic being "who are you" and the response being "I am Robert Giligin."

4. recorded my own voice saying "I am Robert Giligin"

5. created a voice type folder called AAARobertGiligin
6. edited the character's voice type to AAARobertGiligin

7. Made the quest dialogue exception to only acccept Robert's ID

8. put in the WAV sound file into a new created directory: RobertGiligin(DOT)esp/AAARobertGiligin

9. Renamed the WAV sound file to: MRG1_MRG1DialogueIntroTopi_0000CE2E_1

10. Created a XWM file using the multiXWM, and also moved that in there

11. converted/created the WAV into a LIP as well

12. okayed everything and saved everything.

*note the steps above may not of been in the EXACT order they are arranged
* (Dot) is in replace of the period because i'm not trying to post a link :P

My results:
1. The character Robert Giligin appears where i placed him, hall of elements Winterhold
2. I walk up to him and his name appears
3. i Hit E and ABSOLUTELY nothing happens.

I honestly have no idea what i'm doing wrong, i will admit i'm new to modding in skyrim, in fact modding in general i'm not very experienced at. Any help i would greatly appreciate it

in your topic, did you set your npc as speaker and condition the topic to GetIsID (your npc) or GetIsVoiceType (your voice type)?

is the name you gave your sound file (9) the same as it says for audio in the info tab?

are you sure that the quest that holds your topic is actually running?

is your voice wav 16 bit pcm mono?

is the topic set as the starting topic in it's branch, and is it top level?

if you made the character from copy of another one, have you checked if he maybe still has scripts left on him that might block his activation or the likes?

...just for a few things to check.

(you maybe might also want to get unfuzer.exe and make your voice wav and lip into a fuz)

i also tried creating a whole new character, and not a duplicate from another. Did everything and got the same results, so i don't believe it has to do with older scripts. MY assumptions is something to do with the audio file because when i did just texts yesterday, it worked fine.
