Stamina- and the misconceptions of it's need

Post » Sun Nov 03, 2013 4:04 am

It seems to be mentioned in several other threads about the need for Stamina and how crucial of a role it plays in character development. The harsh reality is that it does not.

I created a poll and this thread to actually hear the views of other players and see where the conscious lies within the use and need of this petty attribute.

I rarely put points into it. Apart from carry weight (which I have +200 (Nearly 600)from other methods anyway) and sprinting, it's fairly redundant for me. When I'm fighting, I just trigger spam to kill my enemies. I don't use power attacks much.

I haven't picked stamina for a few months so I voted not at all.
When I did pick stamina I picked it rarely.

Like I said in the other thread. Stamina is only needed for unrealistic slow time archery and marathon runner mode.
want extra carry weight? use enchanting.

Sorry, I cannot answer the poll, no "depends on the character" option. ;)

I invest in Stamina only when my character is a warrior.

Don't forget Steed Stone (+100) and the Extra Pockets perk (+100)

Some people who play pure warrior characters believe (as I do) that enchanting is a magic skill and so wont use it. This being the case stamina is a necessity and has to be invested in.

As I said in the other thread, it's all I level up. By far the most useful thing. I have no use for magicka whatsoever and health is always too much. Stamina is the only one of the three which is actually useful in game (for a warrior). I understand neglecting it as a mage since magicka would be extremely important then, and I guess a stealthy assassin doesn't need it (but also doesn't need the other 2, so I'd argue stamina is more useful than the others for a stealth character as well because at least it will help you sprint a distance, which every character might want to do at some point, and also it increases your carry weight. Again useful for everyone).

For a warrior it's a no brainer, rushing ranged enemies and power attacking, you can really never have enough stamina, but the more the merrier. If you don't think so I have to wonder how you play the game? Level up health and just be a pin-cushion for arrows? That would be grossly immersion breaking for me, I don't want to get hit and stamina is vitally critically important in helping me achieve that. My health and magicka never need to go above 100. I'd reduce them to put those points on stamina if I could. If I get brain rot I don't even cure it, lol.
