How to add more magicka per intelligence point?

Post » Wed Nov 06, 2013 5:56 am

I'm going to be blunt: I find it next to impossible to play as a pure mage, simply because of the way the game handles magicka. I forgot how the vanilla version did it, but in the mod Galsiah's Character Developement, every time you get an intelligence point, it only increases your magicka reserves by one. At this rate, I'll never be able to be able to conjur Golden Saints without enchanting (which isn't my strong suit right now).

How do I use the Creation Kit to net more magicka points per intelligence point?

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?id=1849&view=Mods.Detail was my go to mod for the longest time to increase my magicka reserves for pure mages. Love that mod. It makes magicka level the same way your health does, except being tied to intelligence rather than endurance.

The new, up and coming mod, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1416933-betarelz-mastering-magicka/ is a much more in depth way of increasing the amount of magicka available to mages. There isn't a whole lot of concise information on it yet. So you'll have to read the thread of you want all the info, but it's looking very promising!

If you really want to make a mod for yourself, I'd take a look at how Leveled Magicka did it. But I'd just recommend using one of these two mods in this instance.

Oh, and do you use a magicka regeneration mod? Mastering Magicka already handles regeneration, but if you use Leveled Magicka you'll need to use one like http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6332.

So essentially, Leveled Magicka gives you three points of magicka per int. point? And you're sure it works with GCD?

Change iPCBaseMagickaMult to a higher number.

With GCD, though, if you're a pure mage with all mage skills, you should be getting 2-3 points per INT and 4-5 if you are a magicka bounus race.

BTW: you can also edit the GCD customize script to do the same thing; probably easier.

No. I do not use GCD. You'd have to let someone else answer that question. In my experience, GCD has been incompatible with a lot of things.

What's the default number of this console command? Like I asked Melchior, will it still work with GCD?

iPCBaseMagickaMult is actually a game setting. You'll probably want to edit it in the Construction Set (CS). I'm not actually certain if you can alter the game settings (GMSTs) in game. The CS will display the default value.

I'd go through the steps in detail, but I can't remember the exact drop down menu titles off the top of my head.

My project http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1416933-betarelz-mastering-magicka/ increases maximum magicka per skill points invested in the six magic schools (up to 400 magicka, or x3 INT), and also decreases spell costs per skill invested too (you siphon up to 50% of the spell cost as magicka after casting). Well, it actually overhauls a lot more, but the basics is that it increases available maximum magicka without needing to rely on racial or birthsign bonuses.
Levelled Magicka is also a good plug-in for magicka increase. It does take a few levels before noticing any gain, as it modestly increases maximum magicka by 4% per level (so after 25 levels you double your magicka).

Sorry for asking so much, but what is that game setting under? Is it under the tab Gameplay -> Settings?

I thought this project was a work in progress?

This is the place to ask such questions. ;)

And yes, I believe that's the right place! You should see a list of other settings. With funky names like that one. Look for it in the list and you can increase its value, like fragonard recommended.

It's in beta right now. You can download it from the link I posted.

Hm, I can't seem to find it. Well, I'll just go with that Mastering Magicka mod. Thanks to everybody who took the time to reply, especially you, Melchior. :D

Happy to help, maybe someone with access to the CS can point you to exactly where that setting resides, and don't forget to provide dopey fish with your experience with his mod. Since the mod is still in beta, he's looking for feedback. ;)

Yes, that's where it is and the default is 1.

This does require making a mini-mod esp for making it work though. After thinking about it, changing the GCD customize script would be easier as I mentioned in edit.

The relevant settings are MAG_MAX_MULTIPLIER and maybe MAG_BASE_REGEN_RATE and MAG_MAX_PROGRESS.
