New class idea : Death Knight of Molag Bal!

Post » Thu Nov 07, 2013 9:32 pm

Hello,

I just got this huge urge to play a death knight but not in WoW, in Skyrim. I know the Lich King doesn't exist in the ES games lol, so I thought , what if :

-you become a Death Knight in service of the daedric lord Molag Bal ( Molag's nextgen generals)

Skills :

Conjuration

Destruction - frost only

2 handed

heavy armor

Could this work from a lorewise pov? I think Molag Bal is the perfect daedra prince to create the death knight class.

What do you think? Please improve.

That would be Dragon Priests.

Then what you have is a basic skill set for a Battlemage. Now, as far as MB is concerned, you just need to roleplay it how ever you want. Even become a Vampire.

But if you re a death knight of Molag Bal then you'll the Mace of Molag Bal right? Why not go one handed instead?

edit: plus it'll make using magic much less of a chore since you wont need to switch from 2H to conjure

I agree, 1 handed w/ mace of Molag Bal, destruction, or conjuration in your off hand, but for close quarters still be semi-prefecient in blocking with no shield

and the heavy falmer armor looks pretty evil and im willing to bet it would go with the mace

Ive done this before. My build was

1h (for the mace)

Illusion (Prince of [censored]. Ie forcing people to do things)

Conjuration (Raise Dead, Enemy of Arkay, further [censored], by using their corpses)

Heavy Armor (Just because)

While I will agree with the mace being a solid choice, for the obvious reason of it being from The King of Swing to start with, The transition from 2H to having "2 spells" equipped is a simple matter of hotkeying the weapon to one key and just toggle it on and off. This smooth transition makes the use of 2H a much more attractive option for a Battlemage than 1H, as the hotkey system is screwed up.

On the other hand, you will always have one spell equipped with the mace.

I personally prefer the feel of having a spell ready in my off hand. I use the favorites menu for my spell selection, and put my main weapon in it just in case I left click instead of right. It feels more 'natural', Changing the spell is just my toon deciding what spell to cast, rather than putting his weapon away to cast.

I was with you up until you disgraced your character by referring to them as... toon :teehee:

Yeah but the inexplicable delay when you switch weapons or spells really annoys me. That's why I try not to mix bow and 2H with anything.

You mean the realistic pause that is required when drawing a weapon or exchanging it for another on your person?

Granted, there is a delay with it. One can only expect that as you have to sheath your weapon. However, I have a hard time changing spells with a 1H weapon as I usually end up inadvertently swapping out my weapon for another spell. In which it takes me longer, anyway. Especially when I actually "pause" in bewilderment, then get flustered and start hitting everything. :D

I eventually end up opening the fav menu to straighten things out. The 2h is easier for me. I guess it's what one is used to. Or in my case "can't get used to."

Besides in the vanilla game you are limited to 2 hotkeys anyway. So you are forced to open your menu to change spells. Having a 2H grants you the ability to access 2 spells and a weapon, all with one hotkey. Then the other hotkey can assign an alternate spell to give you access to 3 spells in total. Before you need to open the menu.

But... it's all about the player's preference.

Way to be condescending. Im aware that it takes time to sheathe and unsheathe weapons. My problem is a delay where the weapon is sheathed already and my character will stand there not unsheathing his next weapon. Very noticeable when using the favorites system.

I'm a WoW escapee, and still rough around the edges.
