TES5EDIT - Help Cleaning "Deleted NavMesh Record"

Post » Sat Nov 09, 2013 10:13 am

(Wow, I can not post images or links!)

Hi there...

I posted this on Nexus but havm't gtot any help there.. so thought I would cross post it here.

I made this video to make it clear....

www-youtube-com/watch?v=EJHmG7OzJ6w#t=0

Basically I have a mod, and I know where the "Deleted NavMesh" is.. but I can not work out how to delete it.. and I have followed the tutorial.. but I am stiull having problems.

Please explain to me where I am going wrong and how you delete a NAVMESH form a file.

Here is my original post that got no help at Nexus!

Hi guys. I know this is a common topic, and I have looked at the tutorials and stuff and still having problems. I hope you guys can claer up where I am going wrong....

I have been tryingto get it working followingthis tutorial... Skyrim: Fixing Navmesh Deletion Using TES5Edit @ iguanadons.net

1) I load up TES5EDIT and find the deleted NavMesh.

It is in Cell/Block 8/Sub-Block 7/Temporary/000E0198 Navigation Mesh.

Then according to the tutorial.
2) I right click on the left hand column upon entry "000E0198 Navigation Mesh" and select "remove".
3) I get a warning, I hit "YES"
4) I get a second warning, I hit "YES" again.

This is where is goes all wonky. In the "demo" of the thread Skyrim: Fixing Navmesh Deletion Using TES5Edit @ iguanadons.net it says it should look something like this.... . (Taken directly from that tutorial post)

See how his image the entry is still there but the right panel is all white... while in my image ... the entire entry is just gone.

I think this is the problem, but I do not know what else I am supposed to do. There is more to the tutorial that I can "kinda" do.. but it still doesn't help.... The tutorial says to click on the same ID.. but I can't as it is completely removed. So.. just guessing I click on the ID above it??!!

5) I click on the mesh and select "Change FormID"
6) I enter the original erroring NavMesh ID
7) The same looking box that pops up in the tutorial appears. I right click and "select all" hit OK, and the box pops up again (as it says it should) and I hit OK again.

I close and save....

BUT yeah.. this dosn't work. I think it all goes wrong around step 4...

Q: Can anyone please tell me how to do this?

(I had nice images and stuff but I do nto have permition to post them!)

A couple of things... First, you could probably just stop after you remove the bad navmesh (that had the deleted triangles). Just save the plugin and exit. I don;t think that mod makes extensive enough changes to the inn cells to really need a new navmesh, though I could be wrong there. It's been a while since I checked that mod out.

Second, if you do change the form id for some reason, don't just add a digit. i don't think the number you chose was valid because of the number of digits.

Unfortunatly not :(

If I just right click "remove" save and exit.. the navbmesh error is still reported in BOSS?

What exactly do I add in that "Form ID" part? I am using the number "000E0198" witch is the ID code for the navmesh I deleted... I am pretty sure this is where I am going wrong as well.. but I do not know what else I am suposed to use?

BOSS isn't the be all, end all. It doesn't check every record in the esp, it's just going off of what has been reported about esps to its database.

oh right.. so BOSS is not getting that NAVMesh error fro mscanning the files.. it is from the database? So even if I am doign it correctly then it will have the same error reported?

BOSS reports what it's told to report. Navmesh errors do not use the CRC based check, and BOSS does not scan files directly.

Removing the navmesh from the file and saving it will get rid of the deletion, but you then need to find out if the mod needs to change that for some legitimate reason. It probably does, but the author didn't check the file carefully enough.

You should still try and find out whether the navmesh you're undeleting needs to be changed. Unless I missed something you haven't mentioned which mod this is you're editing so we can't exactly check to see what you're up to :P

(Also, you can post links now, they'd help)

Oh it is just a test. I would liek to start modding so thought I would try learnign TESEDIT5. I am playing with "Relaistic Room Rental" there is a CTD in one of the inns caused by the navmesh erro and people talk of removing it in the comments to fix.. so i thought it would be a good one to test on.

He showed which mod it was in the youtube video. i really don't think the navmesh changes are necessary.
