Story.
War... War never changes.
In the years after the battle of Hoover Dam, the almost God-like individual known only as Courier 6 built the newly independent state of New Vegas into an even bigger, more successful area. Controlling a vast Securitron army he enforced peace at the barrel of a gun and the city flourished under him. Small threats like the Chairmen and the Omertas were bought out, their loyalty traded for just a fraction of the vast wealth he brought back with him from the Sierra Madre. While the more dangerous, more unacceptable elements were simply removed. The White Glove Society found that the new lord of Vegas had no tolerance for cannibalism and were forcibly removed from their casino. As a reward for the help they gave Courier 6, the now empty Ultra-Luxe was given as a gift to The Kings.
Similarly the Chem Fiends of Vault 3 were hunted down and killed by the expanding Brotherhood of Steel. Their newest paladin, Courier 6, offering them a second base of operations in return for them pledging to assist in maintaining peace and stability in the desert surrounding his new empire.
Rather than trying to fight this new state, the New California Republic signed a non-aggression treaty with Courier 6, and with him controlling the power from both Hoover Dam and Helios 1 a bargain was struck by which the NCR were still able to buy energy from Vegas. Being a master of negotiation 6 kept the prices low enough that trade was by far preferable to another attempt to take the city and the peace he created holds to this day and trader from businesses like The Crimson Caravan and the Van Graff family pass frequently between the two nations and grow even wealthier from their trading.
Following the deaths of both Edward Sallow and Legate Lanius, Caesar’s Legion abandoned what was left of the fort to the Securitron army and withdrew back across the river. Their armies found themselves falling into civil wars, fighting battles amongst themselves as dozens of claimants warred over who would be the next to call themselves Caesar. These wars were short lived however as most of the claimants vanished, seeming to simply disappear between sundown and sunup on what became known as the “Night of the long knives”, those who could be found the following morning were all dead, from gunshot or stab wounds that appeared to be self inflicted. From the confusion of the deaths and disappearances a new leader rose and assumed control of the Legion, any who challenged him or spoke out against his leadership suddenly seeming to cease to exist.
Five years after the battle for Hoover Dam, the Legion has returned to the Mojave under the rule of this new Caesar. They are a different entity than they once were, their focus now on terror, subterfuge and intimidation rather than brute strength. They once again intend to take New Vegas for their own and are secretly growing in strength away from the sight of both New Vegas and the NCR. Soon... Soon they will be ready and will put their plans into action.
Because war... War never changes.
Plot.
In this RP we will be playing as a group who have been press ganged into helping the new Caesar destabilize the region before he sends his armies in once more. I don't want to give too much of the plot away now, I do have a whole story arc written and ready for us to follow I just want to save the surprises, but this team will not necessarily be Legionnaires. They will have been scouted by the Frumentarii and selected for a particular skill, be it medicine, lockpicing, hacking or whatever else. It will basically be (at first glance) a suicide mission and I expect some of our characters will die, but if all goes as I have planned then everyone will have fun.
Rules.
1. I, the GM will direct this plot. I will have the final say, but if any of you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them and will try to incorporate them into the story I have in mind.
2. I have no problem with people posting multiple times before I do. For example, if one of your characters is conversing with another, you’re free to continue the conversation. However, I do ask that said individuals do not post more than four consecutive posts, so others can jump in. Hopefully this will be a good compromise between the RPs character interactions while keeping it somewhat easy to follow the overall plot. Though if a conversation is taking place in a location where only a certain amount of RPers are interacting, ignore this rule.
3. Do not God-Mod your character. I expect to see some weaknesses, etc.
4. If you’re going to be gone, give us a heads up. After a weeks time, I will have the right to either auto or kill off your character if you have not notified us via PM or this thread.
5. In the instance where a fight is to occur between two characters, decide between you who will win first. Though if you cannot agree, as per the first rule. I will have final say if there are any problems.
6. If you made it down here, congrats. The last thing I want to add is have fun. That’s why we role play. If I came off as strict from above, that’s not my intention. They only serve as a fail safe to keep the role play enjoyable for all.
