So, I installed Morrowind on my PC the other day. Works great, except when I exit the game, it frequently crashes and locks my computer up.

This same problem was fixed in Oblivion with Fast2Exit.

Is there anything similar for Morrowind? I installed the MCP and MPP but the game still crashes/freezes frequently on exit.

If you use MGE XE, my suggestion from the same thread is probably also worth a try: Play in borderless windowed mode (just enable windowed mode in MGE XE and set the resolution to your desktop's). Never had any crashes on exit since I play it this way.

Thanks! I may try both of those things. Interesting that CCNA said it should not do that with pure vanilla cause mine did it before I installed any mods. I have a retail disc GOTY version in a Windows 8.1 (64 bit machine). Sounds like a bunch of Steam users had that problem but I am on the retail disc version.

I found another thing that helps. Enable "always on top" in task manager options. That way, you can access task manager to shut Morrowind down when there is a crash.
