Karstaag - Use or Save?

Post » Sun Nov 17, 2013 10:45 am

I asked this question shortly after Dragonborn DLC was released on XBOX... wasn't available for PC at the time. So, thought I would ask again.

I have been playing video games for a long time, and I have developed a habit of conserving the big guns for when I really, really need them. It seems to me that in the past, they gave you the big gun because you were going to need it, so don't waste it too soon! I have never really been able to overcome that notion. I end up saving the best ammo, the best weapons, etc. basically forever.

Karstaag is just about the only thing in Skyrim that falls into that category for me. I fall into the last category. I want to use him, but I know I probably won't.

What about you? Please share stories of your epic battles using Karstaag! :)

Wouldn't use him as I feel having him next to me would make any battle too one sided and take any sort of challenge out of it.

If you can beat Karstaag and the EW, you won't ever need it.

There's an insidious thought that frequently goes through the minds of gamers that goes "But I might need it later" - the niggling little doubt that prevents you from using all your most powerful insurance policies in case there's some kind of no-claims bonus at the end of it all. So we have scenarios where you're sitting on a nuclear stockpile to shame North Korea and are throwing peas at a http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GiantEnemyCrab, on the off chance that there might be a bigger giant robot crab just around the corner.

To actually answer your question though, I live and die by the "http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TooAwesomeToUse" philosophy. Plus, Skyrim rarely presented a challenge where I felt the need to use something like Karstaag.
