360 controller issues (PC)

Post » Mon Nov 18, 2013 4:44 am

I'm using an XInput controller to play Skyrim on PC, but the buttons the menus tell me to use are all wrong (eg, at the bottom of the screen it says (B.) Back, but Y is the actual back button. B is actually the "take this item" button etc). I'm used to playing Skyrim on 360, where the buttons in the menu footer are the right controls so it's tripping me up a lot...

Anyone know how to fix this? INI tweak, mod, anything?

It sounds like the control setting could be messed up in your game or else you are used to a different configuration. The Xbox 360 controller on the PC works exactly like it did for me when I used to play on the 360 console, because Y has always been the jump button, B is the back button, etc. as long as I can remember.

Anyway try this:

In the game, press start to bring up the menu.

Go to the system tab.

Choose the control menu option.

You should now be able to change the button arrangements as you see fit.
