I'm finally going to do my first serious role-play, as all my previous characters have been pretty basic in terms of storyline (mercenaries, bards, treasure hunters, etc). My character is going to be an Altmer, and a former member of the Thalmor who was betrayed by his own kinsmen and so seeks revenge. I have a few questions regarding the Thalmor, however:
- What is the structure of the Thalmor army? What would be considered a reasonably senior position within said army, like higher than a simple footsoldier? I was thinking perhaps a strategist or even a politician instead, which would explain why his actual combat skills at the start of the game aren't particularly great. How does Thalmor government work? Any suggestions in this field?
- Is there any evidence of corruption within the Thalmor leadership or any historical incidents of betrayal? I was thinking of having him commit a crime, but I want it to be so that the Thalmor are spun as the ones who have wronged him - not the other way around. What could they have done? How could the betrayal have happened?
- How does the Altmer naming structure work? Is the name generator on Tamriel Rebuilt accurate? Do they not have surnames, because the name generator doesn't suggest any?
- Are Thalmor soldiers inherently racist, or is it just senior leaders? Like, for example, you wouldn't necessarily say that every soldier who served in the German military during WW2 had prejudices towards Jewish people, would you?
- What is the Thalmor religion? I don't know much, besides their opposition of revering Talos as a God? How would one react to the whole Dragonborn scenario, if I decide to take them down that route?
- What are stereotypical weaponry/magic/skills of a Thalmor agent? Which magic schools are they most renowned for, etc?
