Random Character Generation?

Post » Mon Nov 18, 2013 7:14 pm

Has anyone out there figured out or ever looked into trying to add a random character generation option to the game?

I tried doing this in the scripts for my alternate start mod, Skyrim Unbound, but it didn't work out so well.

There are websites that do this. But I haven't heard of any mods that do so.

Except for appearance, it should be pretty easy to do-- my WIP Character Generation Overhaul already allows the Player to alter basically everything (Health, Magicka, Stamina, Resistances/Weaknesses, Spells and Powers, Skill Levels), so it would be easy enough for me to add something like a randomize option in, it'd just be a matter of defining the limits.

Appearance is where the issue comes, really--as far as I know, there's no script-options to change anything like that. You could theoretically make a few hundred alternative appearances in the form of additional races, so each one is a pre-set for that Race; but I have no idea how that would effect things in practice, let-alone how ridiculously huge the effort would be. If there ARE scripts that could be used to mod the face, then it really shouldn't be that hard, I don't think? Most of the face-parts are options, so you'd have vaguely generic features, but differences...
