Choose Your Keening

Post » Fri Apr 23, 2010 8:46 am

Well it seems Jac beat me to the finish with his version of the keening replacer, however since i managed to finish mine too i might as well give the community some variety, so here it is!

The Elder Scrolls III
Morrowind:

Choose Your Keening 1.1 by Andtheherois

Version Notes:
1.0 Initial release

1. Installation -YOU NEED MORROWIND TRIBUNAL AND BLOODMOON INSTALLED!

Simply drag the contents of the ZIP into your morrowind folder, making sure to keep the folder structure. Then check the mod to activate it.

2. Description

This mod lets you switch between Keening in the form of a short sword, long sword, axe, and spear. The short sword version of keening remains unchanged. The other version of keening have stats between their ebony and daedric counterparts. To switch between each version of the weapon, wield it then press your sneak key. this will toggle the different version of the keening. You'll still need wraitguard to wear any version of the blade, however. Because of the nature of the scripts, you need tribunal and bloodmoon installed to be able to use the switching scripts.

3. Issues

this mod will conflict with any mod that alters keening other than texture/mesh replacers. This mod should not conflict with GDR. any mods which change the lorkhanheart script will also conflict with this mod.

4. Usage

use this mod any way you like, just give credit where credit is due :)

5. Credits

HUGE thanks go out to NarfBlat on the forums for helping me figure out how to add the weapons to the heartscript and Alaisiagae for the great remeshes of keening! If for any reason you need to contact me, please do so on the forums at Andtheherois

I haven't tested or looked at it but I'm pretty sure GDR edits the heart script. It drasticly changes the endgame from vanilla so I would be surprised if it didn't alter most of the vanilla scripts having to do with the end of the main quest.

I was actually going to suggest Jac's version use the same method to test for multiple keenings, with your permission. :)

As an alternative, they could disallow reforging until the Main Quest is completed.

Whatever method works best for the modders and doesn't crash the game is cool, be it mine or his :) I have played through GDR before and i didn't note anything that would modify the weapons or the heart itself. though I'll take another look just in case. The only change with the weapons is their locations, as far as i remember. The only other script that would deal with the weapons is the boulder that comes down after obtaining keening.

I'm going to look into it in the morning. :)

I didn't realize the heart script checked for keening by ID. :o
I'll be able to work it out, but it may take a while. :)
Looks like Keening Reforged will be getting another update.

if you need to, don't hesitate to take a look at the script in my mod for the heart. that was actually my biggest concern when making the mod, was how to to get the heart to register the new IDs as the "original" keening.

Thanks, I'll do that. :)

I know we both used the same resource and have pretty much the same idea, but I think we both have good mods. :)

Yours allows the player to change on the fly, mine is a little more lore friendly. The best of both worlds! :) The player has one more choice. 8)

You might want to link Alaisiagae's mesh resource from your OP so we have some screenshots to look at while we're waiting :)
