Killing the Daedric lords

Post » Mon Nov 18, 2013 5:50 pm

I'm sure this title name surprised you, and of course, the word, "kill" seems primitive as I actually mean banishing them from their respective realms into, "true oblivion", aka, "the void" as can be done with lesser daedra.

So, this sets the predicament for a question, is this possible, at least, in theory?

I understand that, of course this would be very difficult, however we know so called, "gods" can destroy one another such as the unfortunate Lorkan, we know the hero of Kvatch defeated part of Sheogorath, in his own realm and possibly stole his power.

With this information, I am given no reason to believe that destroying a daedric prince is NOT possible.

They can be summoned and banished by mortals, just as other daedra, and it is well known, as stated before, that said entities can be eternally sent to the void from their native planes.

On a final note, I'm aware of some claiming that the Daedric Princes, "are" their realms, despite of the lack of sense that makes, or that they, "are" various adjectives or verbs that are used to describe them, (which, in my own humble opinion, makes even less sense.)

I would certainly like to hear the opinions of others on these forums regarding this topic.

I have thought some of it as well. Would also like to hear what the others like to say. Banishing a deadric prince who have take foothold somewhere is really hard. When Marunes Dagon took form in the Imperial city it took the life of the emperor Martin Septim who had this "divine blood" to summon an avatar of Akatosh to banish Dagon. But how would a mortal destroy a Deadra or Aedra?

When you defeat a Daedra it is reborn in the waters of Oblivion. I do not know if Daedric Princes can be sundered like Lorkhan, though it's an interesting thought I doubt it. Bare in mind that Lorkhan is still alive in essence and still has a will, though he be a "dead" god.

Either way you cannot utterly destroy one.

Not really, there is no force powerful enough on Nirn to do such a thing as summoning them. If you do it, it is merely them going to you out of pity, anger, or wondering how anyone can be that stupid.

Actually, mortals can summon them...on their specific day, under specific conditions. But by and large they've never been seen as subservient Daedra like what is normally pulled from Oblivion. It's more akin to putting on a meat suit and walking into a Lion's Den sort of affair.

As for actually defeating them...the only examples we have of Daedric Princes being defeated involve either Aedra intervention (Merhunes Dagon vs Akatosh) or Prince vs Prince (Sheogorath vs Jyggallag).

Azura cursed the Chimer with ashen skin and red eyes. That gives you a sense of the scope of the power inherent in just one Daedric Prince. They are only "Foiled" because they are prevented from directly interfering with Mundus. In their home realms they are lords of all creation.

In the 2920 series, I believe it was either Mehrunes Dagon or Molag Bal that was banished by Sotha Sil and Almalexia. Where thry went I have no idea.

Well, at the same time, they were no mere mortals.

It was Mehrunes who was banished in 2920, a Daedric Prince can't be killed or fully banished but they can be sent back to Oblivion as for the realms. The Daedric Princes created their realms with Star Creatia that seeps in from Aetherius iirc but the realms are essentially a part of them.

Lords of all creation? Are you sure about that?

It seems to me that Mehrunes Dagon should have been able to stop the Hero of Kvatch if that were true,

in addition Hermaus Mora seemed oddly un-motivated to remove Miraak from his realm until the LGB had,(metaphorically, or not!) beaten him to an inch of his life.

Of course, you could make the argument that the LDB was an acspect of either Talos or Akatosh.

Also, I thought I remember Dagon being summoned by an imperial battlemage although I do not recall how he was banished.....

In the Daedra's realm they are the lords of creation there because they created said realm and can change it at will.

I think the only way to destroy a daedric prince is to defeat them in their own realm

I highly doubt it, Daedra can't be destroyed like mortals can, they didn't give up any part of themselves to create Mundus so they don't have a sense of mortality. They are true immortals, they can't be killed permanently.

A daedric prince is a force. They can manifest on mundus as avatars, but thats just a small portion of themselves. In their own realms it would be nearly impossible to beat one as their realm is them.

Dagon barely even notices the CoC; he's too busy destroying the IC. Mora had no reason to remove Miraak; remember that Mora is the Prince of Knowledge and Fate, why kill Miraak when an even stronger champion can be nudged into both killing and replacing him?

A Daedric Prince can be overthrown, but the Rebel literally becomes the King  Sheogorath is still Sheogorath.

Uh..not really, what the CoC did was mantle Sheogorath aka they became Sheogorath. There was no overthrowing or anything, the previous Sheogorath became Jyggalag and then the CoC just replaced the empty position and became Sheogorath. We have no evidence to suggest a Daedric prince can be killed or overthrown so we can't say they can be.
