Fallout 4 Speculation Suggestions and Ideas #156

Post » Tue Nov 19, 2013 11:50 pm

This thread is so that we can keep all the discussion in one place.

This topic is for a friendly discussion of ideas and suggestions for Fallout 4. We all have opinions about what the next game should have and should not have. Each of us has the right to express that opinion freely. There are points we agree on and points we do not agree on. This means that people are going to disagree with you on some things. Accept that and move on. No need to beat your point so far into the ground that no one wants to look at it any more.

At moderator discretion, threads about specific and distinct topics as they relate to FO4 and the rest of the Fallout series may be acceptable in the Fallout Series forum. General idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one.

This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. If you want to discuss major issues, use a separate topic - such as the discussion about adding multi-player or co-op play, which already has a thread. Please search first to see if there is an active/recent thread on a particular topic.

Something to note. Discussions of Child Killing is not allowed on these boards. Don't even bring it up in this thread. It won't happen in any future game from Bethesda, so there is no reason to even discuss it. If you post about this subject, you may be Warned and or Banned from the boards for doing so.

This is also not a thread to discuss current or past Fallout Games, other than to mention an aspect of the game you want to see included, or not included, in a future Fallout game.

Well fallout 1 is far from logical game.

Master could have been used humans as a slaves to solve super mutant sterility. Really master is one of the lamest gaming villains there is. The speech win just doesnt make any sense, not in fo1. fo2 super mutant boss just doesnt make anysense either.

Overseers with minigun platforms what makes game look like megaman game.

Gambling town middle of nowhere that doesnt produce anything is capable of defeat two super power factions.

In bare basics: More thoughtful and more character driven gameplay overall, more characterdriven and tactical combat, and reactive indepth writing with actual choice and consequence, cause and effect.

My Wishlist

1. Add Super Mutant and Ghoul to playable races
2. More impactive choices
3. Less buggy at launch
4. A bigger variety of environments, doesn't anyone think its odd that in 200 years there is still no vegetation. Now, I'm not talking major forests, but some mini woodlands would be nice.
5. Vehicles. No, not cars, but bicycles should be available and those weird horse/mule/donkey/camel things from fallout 3 should be availible to ride.

Agree, it could be improved and i hope it will be improved. And im sure it will be if they have hired new writers(or was it quest desingers, well same thing).

If the game would make really think about stuff like deus ex, then i would be completely satisfied. On the otherhand there is no other game what makes makes morally think about something like deus ex so it is very unlikely.

This might not be impacting at all, maybe it is, I don't know... But the Nuka-Cola machines:
In the original Fallout (it might've been Fallout 2 or both, I forget) when you use them you can put money into them and get a Nuka-Cola from it. Pretty nice, sort of. What I liked most was that it gave a sort of agility/luck check where you can catch the airborne drink as it launches from the machine or, inversely, it can come straight for you but it is possible to dodge. If it hits you it smacks you right in your groin. Heh. I miss that, that was a small, unimportant piece of the game that had no importance but was still really interesting and fun. Also, the old machine design is better than Bethesda's, in my opinion.

I think they should put on the back of the box "THIS GAME IS NOT FOR KIDS. IF YOU BUY YOUR CHILDREN THIS GAME, THEY WILL MURDER YOU IN YOUR SLEEP AND EAT THE REMAINS." Just to avoid any confusion.

How would supermutants work? Say the PC started out as a supermutant; they would approach a town and be fired upon before they reach hailing distance; and encounters like that kid running up to the PC in the waste ~asking for help would never work, because what kid would do that? (run up to a super mutant).

Say instead (better IMO) that the supermutant is treated more like a monster race ~that the PC becomes due to ill fate ~only permanent; not like vampire & werewolves in Skyrim. The best they could manage would [I think] be a conversation between the PC and somebody who knew them before the accident... but still ~that won't change the outlook of the world about them; they would be shunned everywhere but a supermutant town ~and how believable is yet another supermutant town?

____________________

For ghouls it would be both better and worse. Ghouls can't be mistaken for supermutants; and they are not shunned outright by all ~though they are by some; even shot on sight by some. With a Ghoul PC, every major and minor encounter [conversation] would ~unlike with supermutants~ need to have to have custom versions of the dialog that reflect the speakers attitude towards humans or ghouls; and/or androids too; depending on whether they know or not.... and with androids, it'd be a waste if they didn't provide for those events and the changes in attitude. Based on FO1, I get the impression that FEV mutation is relatively fast, but I got the impression that ghoulification is slower... maybe it's not ~(I'd only accept an answer from one of the FO1 devs). Either way... I can say that we know that originally they might have liked to allow the PC to survive a dip and continue the game as a mutant; Tim Cain has said something along those lines, and if only they had had a blank check to make the game with... But Fallout had the advantage of abtracting much of the low-level events. In Bethesda's games for instance, they would have to include animations and voice files for the fear and disgust of town's folk as the PC walks by... Not unlike the standard 'You look strong' and the like ~only different.. instead it would be, 'Mommy he looks ickky!' and a grimace on both of their faces.

*I don't think that they will do any of that; and that's a big part of why I'd not want them to include either option.

______________

Vehicles could be a real boon; and it's about time too ~considering they had them in the previous two games ~just not FO3/ and NV.

* I'd also want ladders; functional 'climb up and climb down' ladders.

** Another thing I'd like to be included is the addition of melee target 'nodes' in the body meshes. And for them to use those node positions to conform their 'stock' punch (and kick) animations... The upshot being that the player can target the shoulder in VATS and the PC punches the shoulder ~even as it moves during VATS.

Yes how difficult is it to include functional ladders.

maybe instead of ghouls just being a class, it can also be a consequence in your story (Which is why choice/consequence is so important). Same way Moira Brown becomes a ghoul if you blow up megaton, depending on certain choices you make you may find yourself nearby an exploding nuke thus making you a ghoul
