In need of help (specifically with SM Plugin Refurbish)

Hi all, recently got back into Oblivion. I only ever use the Unofficial Oblivion Patch(es), but decided to add SM Plugin Refurbish (can't post links, sadly) to my game this time around.

It basically delays the official plugins from starting immediately, so you have to explore a bit to unlock them. Sadly i'm having problems with KotN and Battlehorn Castle, and i'm hoping someone here has experience with this mod.

Knights of the Nine is supposed to trigger after you've got 15 fame -- before that, the chapel in Anvil is un-desecrated. I've got the fame requirement now, and the quest has triggered and everything, but the chapel is missing the corpses. The blood and fire and smoke and everything is there, but the bodies aren't; the guard is outside the chapel, the prophet is preaching nearby, and the quest is showing up fine, but again -- no bodies. Could it be because i visited the chapel before it had been desecrated or something? Bit of a minor issue, but it's really annoying me, and i don't want to go any further in case i maybe come across something worse.

Weirdly, if i untick everything KotN related from the launcher, i get an empty chapel. No people, no pews, no blood.

If i untick just the "plugin refurbish" mod, the bodies are still missing (though the chapel is desecrated as it should be).

As for Battlehorn Castle, it's supposed to trigger after getting 60 creature kills, then a rumour in Chorrol will lead you to the castle. I'm at around 400 creature kills, and absolutely nobody in Chorrol will give me the rumour. I've spoken to just about everybody. Though the castle does exist, and i can head over there myself, i'd really rather come across it through rumours instead. The forum thread for the mod has one or two posts of people complaining the Chorrol rumour won't trigger as well.

I tried looking through the scripts in the Construction Kit, but i couldn't get anywhere looking for modified files. Could only find conversation trees from the base game, and even there i had no idea what i was really doing.

Opening the refurbish mod for Battlehorn in Notepad++ is a bit weird too. The script all shows up fine (bunch of variables and stuff), but there's a big chunk with a load of [NUL] [STX] [ETX] marks in. Guessing i'm not using the right app to read the file. Anyone know what i should use to open up and read the file?

As a final note, the author specifically says his mod works with the unofficial patches, but it was last updated 3 years ago.

Also worth mentioning that Horse Armour and Mehrunes Razor's quest delay have both worked.
