Stories of The New Hope Family.

Kyle's story:
Growing up inside a vault wasn't difficult at all. I had all the luxuries I needed, food, water, my family. I would run around the atrium with my friends just laughing and being kids. I'll never forget that day when the vault door opened up. I was only 14 at the time so I already heard the stories of bombs from old world dropping on the world outside. The reasons why we grew up in this bunker. What was on the other side of that door, no one was ready for.
Everyone was eagerly waiting for the door to open. Clutching onto loved ones and their belongings. The door opened and there stood about six men. They all raised their guns and opened fire. Screams echoed down the hallways, gunfire rung like bells, and bodies hit the ground. One by one everyone inside the vault was killed, well almost everyone. I quickly ran back into the vault, trying to warn others to stay hidden and looking for my family. I went into my room and grabbed my BB gun that I got. My parents said use this only in case of an emergency. I stayed up against the wall and kept the gun pointed at the door. My dad soon came running in and told me to stay down, and shoot anyone that wasn't him. He ran out and I heard two men screaming to get down. I heard a single gun shot and I knew exactly what happened.
Two men soon busted into my room, I pulled the trigger to my gun and hit one of the guys in the forehead. He dropped his gun and grabbed his head. The other one came up to me and swiped the BB gun out of my hands. He told me that if I could fight like a man than i'll die like one. He pointed a gun up against my head. A man quickly shouted STOP! He entered the room, dressed some sort of makeshift armor that I've never seen. He holstered his gun and looked me in the eyes. He told me that I would be the only one to survive what has happened here. I had to spread word of what was seen here today. As he walked out I looked at him and asked for his name. He looked back at me and said his name was Dex. He turned back around and all three men left my room and I heard Dex shout to the others that they were leaving.
When I knew they were finally gone i got up and clutched on my BB gun just to be sure. I walked out of my room only to see my dad's corpse on the ground. I went up to him too see if there was anything i could have done, but I knew it was too late. I grabbed his handgun and continued on. Every room was a bloody massacre, walls covered in blood, bullet cases on the floors, and smell of death in the air.
I stepped foot outside the vault for the first time that day. All I could see was ruins of buildings that stretched for miles. I knew that this so called wasteland was horrible. Hearing about it and actually seeing it were two totally different stories. All i had on me was a bottle of water and a small can of food. I checked my fathers handgun, it only had a few bullets in it. I knew I wouldn't survive for long out here but I had to try. I looked around to see if I could see any towns or landmarks. All I had to go by was a highway sign. All I could make out was New Hope 5 miles. I was going travel there right away. This was my new life.
