Should I kill the Afflicted?

Post » Wed Nov 27, 2013 12:12 pm

So I did this quest once, and it literally took me 1.5 hours, maybe 2 hours. My sneak is 100 right now, and I wanted to know if you guys think I should sneak past all of them, or kill them all.

Well, they are vessels for a Daedric Lord...

They spread diseases...

Or you can just use Alteration for the Atronach perk, get the Atronach stone, and either become a vampire lord with necromage or use Miraak's gear for 100% spell absorption.

They're bandits that puke on you. I'd do it.

I agree they have no importance to you or their selves for that matter. Kill them all!

In my case, different characters would make different decisions.

Is this a Dawnguard quest? It doesn't seem familiar...

Eh, I decided to go with killing them. It seems to go a lot faster than the last time I did it though...probably because I'm at a higher level.

Miraak's clothes give you 100% absorption???

Nope. It's the Peryite daedric quest, and part of the base game.

Miraak's gear = 25% spell absorption. 25% + 50% (Atronach stone) + 30% (Atronach perk) = 105% spell absorption.

Question!

What exactly is the backstory of this quest? I've come to two different conclusions.

Spoiler
Orchendor decided to shirk Peryite's orders and use the Afflicted as an army to achieve his own ends, rather than infecting the places Peryite wanted to be infected.

Or

Spoiler
Orchendor decided it was wrong to use all the Afflicted as vectors for disease and chose to keep them quarantined in the Dwemer ruin until the disease killed them all, defeating the whole point of Peryite "blessing" them.

I don't understand why you ask. Just make up your mind.

I say kill them. They're suffering...plus they attack you first.

Most evil people tend to keep to themselves at first to concoct plans and fiddle with their glorious mustaches whenever they realize a particular plan won't work. Absence of him marching the afflicted to Silver Blood manor is not absence of his plans.

Doesn't answer the question I know, just saying that, the first scenario is usually preceded by the second scenario, so... yeah, IDK
