I am just so curious. I know Almalexia killed him but how?

Because the scene is so weird that he seems like being bound by some ropes or wires (so did he got electrocuted?) and his legs look odd, like part of some machine, or got cut in the knees. I am wondering what happened to him. Did Almalexia bind him somehow and then kill him, or make his body like that after his death?

Anyone have idea or guess? Or is there any canon on that?
