Bands of Merry Men

Post » Sat Apr 24, 2010 11:16 am

I think it'd be cool (even though I'm no stealth player) to be able to hire bands of thieves, who you can travel with and raid caravans, break into stores with much planning, and rob the roads of Skyrim. If Bethesda could really make this system work, and really work on the whole "planning of a heist" aspect, I think stealth players will really stand out from the other classes.

Tell me what you think or if you have any ideas.

A bandit guild more brutal than thieves and more wreckless than dark brotherhood definatly.

I'm not a fan of anything that puts a major focus on companions, but hell if other people enjoy it, why not.

A band of ruthless bandits. Sure. Bandits that pillage and murders for money? Sure. Bandits that will be publicly executed with an axe on the townsquare when caught? I′ll love it!

So basically followers, but with more use? Eh, i personally wouldn't use it, but so long as it doesn't bother me sure, it could be a good idea for some people.

That sounds like a cool idea, and maybe there could be several gangs/bands and you choose which one you join so at that point you might have turf wars with rival groups.

And what about an ability to give certain orders to your gang, after you become the gang leader that is. You could make someone patrol between two points even between two towns, or make them guard or post watch at a certain location and couriers could be sent to give you updates on who just came to town, etc.

If all else fails, you can use a mod to create this. It is not hard to create the band of bandits with a hideout. Using the new Fallout's AI packages (assuming they are used) it is easy to make a random caravan and have your bandits attack it. Same goes for the robbing of the roads, except stealing bricks and stones isn't too classy [/joke]. Robbing the stores could not be randomly generated though. Those would have to be unique and/or scripted.
