Changing plugins in a save game

Post » Wed Dec 04, 2013 4:08 pm

Hi everyone, so I recently finished Morrowind (along with TR and BM) and now I'm looking into modding the game. I'm new to modding and so I'm unsure how to change/update mods on a save game. As I played the game one of the mods I used was the Morrowind Patch v1.6.3 and now I wanted to update it to v1.6.5d_beta. When I try to load a save game with v1.6.5d I get these warnings(in spoiler). I tired updating the mod through wyre mash but it doesn't seem to be working. Can I ignore these warning? If not, how can I use the updated mod on my save game instead of v1.6.3?

Did you use the "Change To..." option in Mash, save and do Repair All?

First thing, those last two error messages are normal and you will always see them. Has to do with what happened when Bloodmoon was added to the game.

Another question  Did you follow the http://wryemusings.com/Wrye%20Mash.html#UsinganUpdatedVersionofaMod on updating mods?

Those errors look like the old plugin's data in your save game wasn't updated to the new version.

Oh, and you don't need to run "Morrowind Code Patch Showcase.esp" to get the benefits of the MCP. That plugin just adds a demonstration cell to Seyda Neen where you can see some of the MCP's changes and fixes (although the earlier ones as I don't think it's been updated in a while).

And welcome to the Forums!

All "Local count for script" messages should disappear at first save/reload with the updated mod

I did use the chage to option and saved but I did not do repair all. I tried repair all on another save and it only appeared to remove the features from MCP(like better topography and toggling sneak). Well I did it again anyway and while I did get the same warnings it didn't remove the MCP.

Thanks I didn't know that.

Good to be here. I followed the instructions in wrye mash to the letter but doesn't seem to work. As for the MCP showcase I don't mind it much so I'll just leave it there.

So the save should be fine even if I ignore the warnings? I'll try it out.

Thanks abot and to everyone else, I saved and then reloaded and none of the warnings appeared. I'll assume the save is fine unless I come across something that seems broken. lol it seems to be simple things that mess me up.

I don't think anything you do to a savegame can affect the features from MCP. MCP alters the executable file (Morrowind.exe). I don't think it affects your load order or savegame file. I have updated MCP several times with the same savegame, both changing options and upgrading from 2.0 to 2.1 and the game does not seem to mind. I don't think anything Wrye Mash does to a savegame file will have any impact on the MCP features.

I don't know how it happened. I just used the repair all feature to test it out and when I loaded the save the better topography and toggling sneak was removed. In fact I checked other saves and the MCP was off on those as well. I just went into the MCP and installed the patches again and everything was fine after that. Most likely I disabled the MCP somehow but I can't remember anything specifically that would of caused that.
