Fallout New Vegas DLC Questions.

State your business.

Okay, I want to purchase a new expansion pack for Fallout: New Vegas. I was wondering however, will the storyline of the expansion pack affect the storyline of the Fallout: New Vegas main storyline? The other question I wanted to also ask is, do I have to create a new character to play the DLC or can I just carry on with my character and play the DLC whenever I like?

Thank you, sorry for the super short post.

No, the DLC doesn't affect the storyline directly, however the first DLC opens some dialogue options with a companion and in the last expansion you can do something that would heavily cripple two factions of the main game, but that is only shown in the DLC's ending slides and not in the game's ending slides. You'll also get either fame or infamy with different factions depending on your decision, which could potentially make one of them (or both) aggressive towards you.

You don't have to create a new character to start them, you go in with your current one. So yes, you can carry on and play whenever you like.

Also, it's good to note that you won't be able to return until you finish your business, with the exception of Lonesome Road, and you can go back to DLC locations after you're done, with the exception of Dead Money.
