Hi, Ive gotten back into playing Skyrim but am now stopped by a flaw in one of the recent updates (Im guessing)...When I get up to the find esbern quest in the rataway warrens he doesn't have any voice ??? nor any subtitles at least and I was stopped to finish the quest as I couldn't open the door, but I did find a workaround by exiting the area and going back, problem is that I don't know much about the storyline if esbern isn;t talking, and I need him to for the rest of the quest I have with him, and doesn't he have a place in the theives guild??? I'd definately would like this problem fixed so I can enjoy the game like I used to ??? please HELP! btw Im now in riverwood just before I need to leave on a quest with esbern

Have you tried re-loading?? If you are on the xbox, have you tried clearing the cache??

Turn off your Autosave features, that will allow you to go through doors. And, please don't load that Autosave, unless it is your only one. It may have become corrupted.

Hopefully your manual slots are still good and fresh.

And, always have a save slot for before you start a quest (not just getting it in your journal, just as you start to do something with it).

This way you can always reload and redo the quest. 99.99% of quest glitches go away using this method. Note, there is that certain murder mystery that you want to pay attention to sooner rather than later when visiting Windhelm, like the first couple of times you go there. But, other than that, just accept quests as they come. But do the save first method and you will never have anything stop you from doing something in the game.
