How does Skyrim legendary edition run on PS3?

Post » Sun Dec 08, 2013 10:09 pm

I put about 300 hours into vanilla Skyrim before becoming sick of the unplayable framerate issues, etc. I've been feeling the itch to finally play the DLC, but I have some questions:

1) First, of course, is how does Skyrim run on PS3 with all the DLC installed? Is it like Fallout New Vegas where with all the DLC installed it runs like crap? Does the game become nigh unplayable when the save file gets bloated? I can live with regular reboots.

2) Has destruction magic been fixed? It was really underpowered in vanilla Skyrim. I want to play a full wizard this time.

3) Which DLC should I play first?

If I am not mistaken vanilla Skyrim was almost unplayable on PS3 as well. Also destruction magic really isn't that bad if you take the time to learn how to use it properly.

I only have vanilla/DLC. Not the Legendary Edition. It runs fine if you clean up after yourself all the time. Pick ap weapons and shields after every skirmish, indoors and outdoors. These build up and bloat up files over time.

Destruction was never broken.

I personally play Dawnguard first, Hearthfire in the middle, and save Dragonborn (the best) for last. Fitting way to end Skyrim.

Thanks Shadow_Titan17 and Blade92.

Picking up after every skirmish sounds a bit tedious but not completely unreasonable. So I just leave all the swords/shields I pick up on one of the bodies?

Maybe destruction being underpowered was all in my mind. I'll give it another shot.

To be honest it may feel weak but you can easily do enchanting to help overcome that issue, the ability to cast multiple fireballs before running out of magicka or even without even using any magicka is worth it in a way, I would expect a mage to try to find a way to deal as much damage as possible with as little usage of magicka possible.

But all in all like I said it is my opinion that destruction is not that bad if you know how to use it properly. Some people might see using enchantments as exploiting the game but for me if it is there then I can use it.

On all bodies. When you're finished cleaning up. Put them in a nearby body so the game cleans it up when it time.

I also have vanilla & all DLC. The save file bloat, frame rate and lag issues are still there. Destruction is still the same. If you want to melt faces as a mage you'll probably want fortify destruction potions and the magicka cost reduction enchants. Out of the DLC you definitely want to complete Dawnguard first because of the random vampire attacks that can kill useful NPCs.

I just bought the Skyrim legendary edition new on Amazon for $30.

Is it just me or is $60 waaay too much for a GOTY edition? I ass-umed $40 was the going rate for a GOTY edition that includes all the DLC and is essentially one last attempt to get into our wallets.

Anyways, thanks guys!!!!!

No. Vanilla Skyrim=$60, Dawnguard=$20, Dragonborn=$20, Hearthfire=$5.

$105 or $60...hmm.

I play on the PS3 with all DLC and it runs fine for the most part. It has a tendency to randomly freeze once in a while, but it's not too often that it happens. But wolves can no longer be heard howling with Dawnguard or Dragonborn installed; I forget which. Or so I've heard that's the reason for the wolf glitch. If you like wolves. :teehee:

I guess that's true. It's amazing to me that Skyrim is still pulling in premium dollars for a title that was released 2 years ago.

I tried out the ps3 for a couple of months with the legendary edition, and I had no issues at all. The console I purchased had 250mb and it was the red one. I sold it with the games cause I could not get my hands to do the controller right, and went back to the playing the xbox. But I had no problems. If you do get the legendary edition, install disk 2 first, and then disk one. Hope that helps.

EDIT. I always play as a sorceress, and I have never felt underpowered. In fact, I only had problems with the dragon priests. As far as what dlc's to do first, I would get to level 9, and do Hearthfire first for the building of your own home.
