Playing Morrowind for the First Time

Post » Mon Dec 09, 2013 8:11 am

Well, not technically the first time if you count about 2 hours previously. Anyways, I'm a forumite that usually hangs out in the Marukhati's playground with the Elk and quite a few other interesting characters. Oblivion was actually my first Elder Scrolls game, and I've never really played much of Morrowind. Soon, I will be beginning a playthrough of the game in its entirety, and was wondering what mods the community would recommend to me.

I like to keep lore-friendly (such as Tamriel Rebuilt) and I may not have the capability to effectively use too many graphics enhancing mods such as Morrowind Overhaul. Graphics are in no way in an issue for me though as I've began and completed a lot old games decades after their release.

So, honored modders and TES enthusiasts alike. What are the mods that would most enhance my experience?

while someone may tell you to start the first game without mods, and then search for what you'd like to improve, I say that if I had used mods from the beginning, my gaming experience would have been a lot better.
That said, in my sign you'll find my suggested mods. Have a look at their description.

And while I respect what Antares said, as someone who played last 3 TES games unmodded 1st and then started playing around with mods I suggest you to try the game unmodded first. You can't have mods fixing and changing stuff for you without even knowing what you want fixed and changed. And when it comes to Morrowind I never actually had much installed aside from some graphic enchances because I felt like the game doesn't need much changed in the 1st place. Just my two cents.

The only truly must have mods imo are unofficial patches for MW, TB and OB + Morrowind Code Patch. These do not change gameplay experience in any way, they "just" fix insane number of things and prevent quests breaking, game crashing and save game file corruption which will save you from a lot of headaches.
