Hey, I have just got the Elder Scroll from the Soul Cairn and want to return back to the mainland. However in my game I dont use fast travel. Is there any shortcut to get out of her study or do you have to go back from where you came from which would take a long time? She does have a balcony which is a fast travel location, but it goes to nowhere, if I want a quick way out will I have to fast travel?

Hmm. I don't believe there is a short cut out of there that isn't FT.

But for the sake of not going through that whole place again, I would just fast travel. At least just to the boat.

Jump off the balcony

Make sure you have the proper shout though. lol

just FT from the balcony to the boat. Or as some have suggested, jump.

However if your not FT for RP reasons then jumping from a balcony would be pointless. Your going to have to go back the way you came.

I seem to recall there being a gate that you can't open from your side as you exit the Study. If the area hasn't reset yet, it should be fine, but I'm certain that there's a metal gate that can only be open by a switch on one side.

I'm sure that fast traveling from here means that you go all the way back to where you came from.

Hear you there. When ever I jump, I use the shout just to be on the safe side. lol

What shout is that?

The Become Ethereal shout. It makes you invulnerable for a short amount of time

I usually unlock the first word for that reason but then I get a bit nervous when jumping from a high cliff that it will wear off before I hit bottom

Not using Fast Travel can lead to an "Are We there Yet?" bugged Serana following Your character. I can respect the "No Fast Travel", but IMO getting from the Balcony to the Dock is less costly to a playthrough than the glitched Serana the Game punishes a Player with.
