Fallout 4 Speculation, Suggestions and Ideas #181

Post » Tue Dec 10, 2013 8:34 pm

This thread is so that we can keep all the discussion, rumors and speculation in one place.

This topic is for a friendly discussion of ideas and suggestions for Fallout 4. We all have opinions about what the next game should have and should not have. Each of us has the right to express that opinion freely. There are points we agree on and points we do not agree on. This means that people are going to disagree with you on some things. Accept that and move on. No need to beat your point so far into the ground that no one wants to look at it any more.

At moderator discretion, threads about specific and distinct topics as they relate to FO4 and the rest of the Fallout series may be acceptable in the Fallout Series forum. General idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one.

This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. If you want to discuss major issues, use a separate topic - such as the discussion about adding multi-player or co-op play, which already has a thread. Please search first to see if there is an active/recent thread on a particular topic.

Something to note. Discussions of Child Killing is not allowed on these boards. Don't even bring it up in this thread. It won't happen in any future game from Bethesda, so there is no reason to even discuss it. If you post about this subject, you may be Warned and or Banned from the boards for doing so.

This is also not a thread to discuss current or past Fallout Games, other than to mention an aspect of the game you want to see included, or not included, in a future Fallout game.

Really? You're cool with the whole "racial purity" crap that is Eden's agenda? You meet numerous "abominations" in the game that are good, with all too human feelings and emotions. You encounter tons of ghouls that are upstanding people, and you even meet two super mutants that care about other people and try to prevent humans coming to harm. Then you have people like Harold, too. But even if you said, "Alright, those handful of people are the exception to the rule, we'd be better off to wipe out all abominations" you still run into the fact that the "people who will die for the greater good" includes the MAJORITY of every human in the Wasteland not born in a Vault.

Wiping out 80% of all sentient life is not the "greater good", it's for the good of the few and the elite. The Enclave and Eden's agenda in Fallout 3 are very "Nazi-ish", in that they are arguing certain people are superior on the very basis of their genetic code, i.e. "perfect" genetic code, or "mutated" code. I don't see much room for moral hand-wringing there unless you somehow discount racism as not morally questionable.

The choice between NCR and the Legion in NV was awful too, and completely at odds with the great choices present elsewhere in that game. I really want the main conflict in Fallout 4 to be truly difficult to identify a good side / bad side of it. No one in real life thinks of themselves as the bad guy, so your final choices in a Fallout game should not be "hero route" or "villain route".

It is my day off and I was a little bored, so I put this up together. I kept thinking how that song from that fake leaked audio of a teaser trailer was so perfect so I found a fan made FO4 trailer to go with it. Just to get our appetites wet (or wetter...) Mute the first video, turn up the second!:

I really wonder how Bethesda would react to that audio. I wish they expressed their opinions more.. I find them rather interesting at points

I am sure they lol'd hard at the song towards the end, being from Mario and all :P But as for the Skeeter Davis "End of the World" song, I hope they take notice, it is perfect for Fallout 4 IMO. Sure, it was written in 1962 but New Vegas had some songs from the late 50's to early 60's.

This is the second fake trailer that uses Project Brazil (great NV mod) as background. It's actually sad that these hoaxers aren't very creative.

I love being proved......

....almost as mutch as I like useing Archaic meanings

the problem with the Legion V NCR was that there was suposed to be have more grey in it that they never developed. Basicaly it seems that the original plan was that all of the negative views were to have come mostly from the NCR. Bascialy yes they were slavers, and yes they had some Brutal SOBs in it and yes they were less technologicaly advanced than the NCR but originaly there were suposed to be reasons for it (Lessof an industrial base, a "if you dont work then we will make you work" mentality when it comes to slaves(Bascialy a "we dont have homelss we have slaves" kind of thing), and a extream form of "We will tolerate no [censored] or slacking" mentality and so on, that somehow got twisted into what you hear from Radio Vegas and the NCR and the "Civilians" But somehow they basicaly flubed that up

Agreed with all of it. Its too bad though because I think the Legion would have been seen in a different light if Obsidian had the time to finish the game.

It's abominations as in literal abominations like Deathclaws and super mutants, mirelurks, radscorpions etc

He doesn't reference people as abominations he says it's a shame that they will die but they are the catalyst for change as I said Richardson's plan with the curling virus is harder to defend.

And it's sacrificing the paltry amount of people today for the masses of tomorrow and even people today are dieing from these abominations, you can't build for tomorrow if you're in a war today (super mutants).

Hell the bos has a harsher view on ghouls than Eden does

Yes, the fact that Eden thinks of ghouls as people more than the BOS does certainly makes up for the fact he's planning their genocide. ::sarcasm::

Eden's plan is almost identical to Richardson's, only the dispersion method is different. He acknowledges the tainted water from Project Purity will likely kill anyone not born in a Vault, not just abominations. Scouring the Earth with a virus to start over isn't any less destructive than doing so with nuclear weapons. The fact is, Eden's "mercy" and "humanity" towards the people of the Wasteland is all talk (or programming). In reality, the Enclave is all about racial purity, the survival of the elite, and setting themselves up as dictators of the world. If the Enclave was truly interested in everyone's welfare, they could purge the Wasteland of abominations with their armies and advanced weaponry and craft, and secure peace for everyone. But then they'd have to put in the real work, winning hearts and minds with actions instead of empty promises. Instead, they are choosing the easy path of wiping out anyone that isn't like them.

The Enclave's "shining city on the hill" doesn't have to be built on the skulls of the innocent, but the Enclave is damned determined to pack the masses of dead into the foundation. They are literally fascists focused on purity. They are a palette-swapped Nazi party.

Bethesda should make a mutated bed bug an enemy - blood svcking critters are already fantastically resilient.
