End of session, how do you set it up?

Post » Thu Dec 12, 2013 3:25 pm

Most of the time as I play, I set up my char for a new challenge for the next day.

Saving outside a dungeon or similar.

Sometimes I save in town, but mainly because it was a long session and RL-clock is ticking.

I like to start the next session fresh, with a purpose and to have a little bit of fun right away, instead of having to walk for 10 minutes to the next objective.

Ok, I'm only low level now, but I've played other high level chars and I like to have a mission straIght off after work.

What do you do?

I just quit when I'm tired or want to play something else and it doesn't matter where I my character is. Most of the time I am in a city when I quit though.

I usually quit in a town or camp. I eat/sleep then save. before I sleep I look in my journal and kind of plan out where I'm going next time and whatnot.

I had one character, an orc raised by khajiit caravaners, who kept a journal, but I actually had the journal in real life that I would write in every game-day. I also set the timescale back so that one game day was about the amount of time I usually play in a session. That was kind of fun. Helped me keep in character by thinking of what he would write in the journal that night. Then in the journal I would put something in like "tomorrow I'm going to..." so that if I don't play for a while I can look in the journal and pick up right where I left off.

I think I definitely always sleep right before I quit though. I have a needs mod and have to sleep every so many hours or else my skills will suffer, so I think that might be why I do that. That way I don't have to worry about how tired or hungry/thirsty I am when I start up again. So even if I do quit right before a dungeon I always make camp and sleep before I quit.

Save then quit. Makes no difference to me anymore.

Once upon a time I found it impossible to load a save in town, without first loading a save from an interior cell first. Odd yes, but once I found out about http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/46465/? all those problems disappeared.

Part of my roleplay is to always end my session just after my character has eaten and went to sleep. So when I load the save my character has just woken up for a new day. It feels more natural.

I also use camping (Frostfall) and need to eat, drink, and sleep mods.

I usually save just wherever I am unless there is something I know I *want* to do, which I try to do now because I know I'll forget it by the next time I'll play. :P One such example is dragging off to the nearest city or a place my character knows that has a shrine or cure disease potions when I'm diseased. If I don't cure it right away and don't play for a day or so I end up running around wondering what is my stamina all messed up. XD

I usually save outside a door or an entrance to something so its easy to pick up where I left off.

I always stop at a resting point kind of area; a town, my home, a lone cabin in the wilderness or even just a camp I come across. I prefer to stop at resting places, rather than just stopping while my character's in the middle of nowhere or in a dungeon.

Mostly I go home or to a town near my next objective. Sometimes I have to quit in the middle of a dungeon because it's a lot longer than I thought. Or I am falling asleep and save right when I get to where I'm headed.

Funny, that's exactly what I do and I never plan anything for him/her to do next time I launch the game.

I try to end each session right after my character has had dinner and slept for the night - preferably at home or in an inn. While not playing, I plan what I'm going to do next so when it's time to play again, I load up the save, eat breakfast, and we're off.

Same, but I will rest in a dungeon. I like loading it up with at least a little resting bonus.

I'll generally save after doing "chores" (selling crap, putting crap in appropriate crap chests/containers, crafting crap, equipping crap, etc.), and I'll usually do so indoors - usually, but not always, in my character's home. I'll also turn the camera to get a view of my character's face; I've got a few characters, and I'm too dumb to read the character's name on the save file.

No particular setup - just getting my inventory under control so I'm ready for whatever.

That's basically what I do as well so I can start the save fresh and free to play without the tedious task of organizing/selling loot....sometimes I get too tired and save right before unloading loot then curse myself next time I play :P

I generally save and quit after I look at the clock and say "Oh Crap!"

If I think it out ahead of time, I'll pause after clearing my inventory and sitting in my house, maybe after getting some 'Lover's Comfort' from my spouse. Ready to go for next time.

I am fairly similar to your method. I usually make the last save of the session where I want to start out next session.

I usually try to get rid of everything I don't need from the last quest so I won't discover that my inventory is full of dragon bones halfway through a dungeon, sometimes I check the quest I want to do the next day.

Sometimes in Dawnguard fort after buying ammo for my crossbow. That way, next time I play, I'll get more ammo! (Shops reset when game is loaded/reloaded).
