probelms with brightness

Post » Sun Dec 15, 2013 7:33 am

so I just got a new monitor

& the brightness is over the top

& the monitor won't let me ajust it & I there is no options in with display option

nothing relating to brightness

then I tried color calibration & that did not really help

& now I get this fade to black screen several times while playing

any fix? & a way to ajust brightness?

All monitors should have controls to adjust brightness - are your controls just not working? If that's the case, your monitor is defective and you need to take it back where you bought it and get a refund or a replacement.

What monitor do you have ???? (You could download the manual from the support site.)

Second solution you can change your brightness and other tweaks via your GPU control panel as well. !!!!!

It's actually ASUS VS278 Q or P.

Anyway: that's the manual: http://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/VS278H/#support (download the second from bottom)

So...as i saw on that manual you have plenty of choices adjusting your screen settings as you prefer !!!!!

Thumbnail: 3-1 (3-1-2): (1) - Splendid mode: Choices -> Scenery Mode - Standard Mode - Theater Mode - Game Mode - Night View Mode - sRGB.

(2) - Color: Choices -> Brightness - Contrast - Saturation - Color Temp - Skin Tone

(3) - Image: Choices -> Sharpness - ASCR - Focus

With those modes you can adjust anything as you like....so, just read the manual !!!!! :wink:

the problems is I don't get it

it points out the brightness hot key that still won't work & no reason why brightness in the menu can't be toggled

the brightness hot key is doing nothing

& the guide just says ajust brightness nothing about why it can't be toggled in the menu:(

It sounds to me like it's a problem with the monitor itself. I'd take it/send it back and exchange it for another.

The only other thing I could suggest is to check if it's in some kind of preset mode that disables the controls, turn that mode off if it is, and then try to adjust the brightness again.

If you have one of the Themes chosen, such as gaming, which is too bright, then you can make manual adjustments. Go into Manual or Custom mode to make adjustments. Use one of these images

http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/

Note, your shooting for about 50% brightness, or less, and about 80% contrast and some mid to upper black level if you have the option. It is difficult to really get the color balance and saturation just right without a Mylar Filter to help you, but tone down the Torch Mode.

Note, any time you apply one of the monitor themes, you may overwrite these settings.
