Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

Post » Sun Dec 15, 2013 7:51 am

Whenever I play skyrim it crashes back to desktop after 5-10 minutes and i get a bubble at the bottom of the screen saying "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" "Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 320.18 stopped responding and has successfully recovered"

Before anyone starts ranting about how its because I play on a laptop, I play loads of other games on my laptop without problems (Borderlands 2, Dark Souls, Dishonoured, Saints Row 3 and even CoD Ghosts) I have tried adjusting the graphics even though my computer reccomends running it on ultra.

My spec is

CPU i7 3630 QM @ 2.4GHz

GPU NVIDIA geforce 650M

Ram 8GB

(not sure what else people might need to know)

Does anyone know a way to mend this?

Have you tried a different driver?

Try to install the DirectX drivers again: http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/4/A/84A35BF1-DAFE-4AE8-82AF-AD2AE20B6B14/directx_Jun2010_redist.exe

Actually your drivers are a bit old...

Thanks everyone. I thought I'd updated them already but maybe not.

I'm just trying that link that Mark41 has suggested atm and I'll edit this to let you know if it works.
