Yes I know I made this topic months ago but instead of necroing the thread I decided to remake it so newer members can see it.


Equipment needed-
1) 2 of the same staff. 1 with full charge and 1 used so that it has the option to recharge it (do not recharge it).
2) any weapon of choice (this weapon will combine with the staff and be the damage output so it is best to use a weapon that looks good combined with the staff or small enough to hide inside the staff) Iron dagger is the smallest upgradable weapon.
3) any Shield (any shield can be used but I recommend the lightest so that you can carry more stuff)
4) any bow (If you aren't using a bow for your characters build then just pick the lightest bow)
5) favourite all the items except for the staff that can be recharged.

how to have a melee staff-
1) open favourites menu anf equip your melee weapon in right hand (keep favourites menu open)
2) Equip your shield (keep favourites menu open)
3) open favourites menu and equip your bow then exit favourites
4) open favourites menu and equip your shield (keep favourites menu open)
5) Equip your melee weapon (keep favourites menu open)
6) Equip favourited staff in left hand anf wait 1 second so it appears in both hands.
7) Unequip your left hand staff but don't equip anything else.
8) Exit favourite menu and enjoy.

You can now equip 1 handed weapons and spells in your left hand.
Favouriting/unfavouriting anything will make glitch reset so you'll have to do it again.
Do not equip any apparel including a shield or it will reset.
and obviously equiping anything in your right hand will also reset it.
If you want an invisible staff then equip the favourited staff in your right hand.


In 1st person the staff will be visible when sheathed and might be annoying (depends on your melee weapon type and size of staff)
In 3rd person it is also visible when sheathed and looks quite good.
in 1st and 3rd person your melee weapon will be equiped in your right hand when sheathed and will be upside down.



Good combinations I have tested.

Dwarven mace + spider control rod

Dragonbone sword + Dragon priest staff

Iron Dagger + any staff (cant see dagger)

Dragonbone sword + Wabbajack
