So I'm doing something I've been planning on doing for ages. I'm going to sit down and run through all the Fallout releases - Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas. (Brotherhood of Steel is disqualified due to reasons of Plot Insanity).
Now I've played through Fallout three times. Fallout 3 and New Vegas once. In my shame, despite owning the game for nearly a decade, I've never actually beaten Fallout 2. I get to San Fran and always end up wandering away from the game.
Tactics is a game that I've never actually played and now, thanks to both Steam Sale and GOG's give away, I can partake in it.
Fallout being the game I've run the most, I've decided to deviate from my normal run. Usually, I build Scholar-Snipers. Gentlemen of Intellect and Refinement who can and will shoot the eye out of a Super Mutant at 500 yards. I like getting the speech perks, the extra dialogue, and the non-violent ending (Non-violent for me, anyway).
This time around though, I'm doing it a bit different. Ward is a martial arts affectionado, with the highlighted skills being Unarmed, Sneak, and Lockpick. Trait-wise I gave him Small Frame and Finesse, and if needed I'll also level up his Melee Weapon skill.
This run is going to be as fresh as I can really make it, having never dabbled in Melee combat with the Fallout universe at all. I'm terrified and kind of excited for the Deathclaw encounters now, and hopefully my selections will give me some Perk advantages for that.
Thus far I've only run to Vault 15 to pop a Lesser Mole Rat's head like a zit (Seriously. One hit with Brass Knuckles and a Crit Hit), so we'll see how this goes. Not being as "smart" as I've been in other runs is going to make the experience interesting indeed, especially since I won't get the early bonus XP for helping Shady Sands' agriculture.
