Screen Tearing with V-Sync ON

Post » Thu Dec 19, 2013 5:07 am

yo,

I've got screen tearing on my end, with the v-sync on. It's really not that bad, but i am running the game on ultra with 200+ mods.

Just wondering if anyone else has that problem.

i can certainly live with it as long as its not crashing or freezing every 5 minutes.

And also, i tried with v sync off as well

Just passing by, but I thought I might mention on the fly, that in my understanding, screen tearing should not be possible with V-sync working.

My only guess would be, that for some reason, you do not in fact have V-sync on. Could it be, that you are playing in windowed mode, and that interferes with the settings, or are your GPU driver settings perhaps overriding the game settings? That is all that comes to mind.

I first set my nvidia settings to Adaptive, then forced it on through Skyrim Configurator, so its on in the .ini file

the i set nvidia to override it to on and had it on in the configurator as well.

so its on, and i'm on full screen. I actually thought about using windowed mode to try it but haven't yet

im guessing EnBoost is the culprit. but actually turning it on made the screen tearing much much better. i only get it across the lower bit of my screen as opposed to 4-5 liines of it across the entire thing.

What if you don't choose adaptive on your Nvidia Graphics setting menu !!!! - just enable it !!!!

I get screen tearing (at the bottom of my screen) when setting VSync to adaptive in the Nvidia Control Panel too. I keep the default setting "Let the 3D application decide" selected and don't get the tearing at all. With this setting, Skyrim supposedly automatically limits your frames per second rate to the refresh rate on your monitor by default. By the way, I use a Geforce GTX 650 [2GB] GPU.

Actually vertical sync tries to limit your refresh rate on your monitor's refresh rate, but can't keep it up to that limit (60) if things goes heavy !!!!!

Adaptive tries if possible to stay all the time at the 60 fps mark, or if you wish at your 60Hz screen refresh rate. !!!!!

But that's varies on different computer configurations.

Right, it fluctuates between 40 and 75 fps in my game, but in a select few areas (usually areas with a lot trees or grass) it drops as low as 30 fps. My monitor supports either a 60 Hz or 75 Hz refresh rate; I use 75 Hz, because 60 Hz is noticeably harder on my eyes.
