Could not find the file mw_logo.bik

Post » Fri Dec 20, 2013 8:11 am

I just installed Morrowind GOTY from disc, some years old version. Everything worked fine. I installed a few mods, everything was working fine.

I just installed a mix of mods Starfires NPC additions, Vampire Realism, and LeeLoos Head Replacer... First error message on the initial Load is something regarding Vampire Realism... VH Rats can not be found... #s 15,20, x, x..

then when those clear after continuing I can not reach the load screen due to.... Could not find the movie file mw_logo.bik, continue running executable, which crashes me to the desktop...

Can anyone resolve the MW_logo.bik error? I hadnt been receiving it before these few mods were installed.

Try changing this line in your Morrowind.ini file....

Company Logo=bethesda logo.bik
Change to...
Company Logo=mw_logo.bik

Does that fix the problem?

It adjusted the sequence of disruption... instead of giving me a minimized game graphic distortion after all data intialized, it does it on intial launch.... same error though..

Are you using a no-CD mount and/or hack?

No.. Like I said, I am using a few year old GOTY, it was working fine until a recent string of mods.

I apparently backed up my file too late? or this is just the transfer that occured in the video folder, when compared from on disc Video folder.

Current C: Video folder...

bm_bearhunt1.bik

bm_bearhunt2.bik

bm_ceremony1.bik

bm_ceremony2.bik

bm_endgame.bik

bm_frostgiant1.bik

bm_frostgiant2.bik

bm_wereend.bik

bm_werewolf1.bik

bm_werewolf2.bik

Morrowind E: Video folder...

bethesda logo.bik

mw_cavern.bik

mw_credits.bik

mw_end.bik

mw_intro.bik

mw_logo.bik

which I may have just realized is the difference of having to run GOTY off of Morrowind Disc, versus the imprinted files on the Morrowind folder... Is that correct?

I downloaded a no video mod, it corrected, even previous issue where no error came up, before load screen i would have to eject cd.

My disc is pretty worn, maybe it is corrupted file.

Re-installing is always a good bet.
These type of files are usually the ones that get corrupt during install.

I believe most videos (including the logos) play directly off of the disc. A really scratched disc might be your problem.

I think you're right Pluto. That's a real good possibility. Make sure the disk is clean and if you have a second cd drive, try installing from there...remember to close your anti virus app while installing.
